Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Installation

1. Using vernier caliper, measure thickness of each pad lining. Compare measurement with specifications. If brake lining thickness is less than specified, replace both pads as a set.
2. Clean caliper thoroughly, and check for grooves or cracks. Repair or replace as necessary.
3. Install pad retainers, then apply Molykote M77 compound, or equivalent, to both sides of pad shim and install brake pads and pad shims.
4. Push piston in until caliper fits over pads. Keep piston boot in position to prevent damage when swinging caliper down.
5. Swing caliper down into position, then install caliper bolt and tighten to specifications.
6. Install brake hose clamp bolts to steering knuckle, then the wheel and tire assembly. Lower vehicle.
7. Pump brake pedal several times to position brake pads before moving vehicle.
