Buzzing From the Speedometer

SYMPTOM

A buzzing noise coming from the instrument panel near the speedometer.

PROBABLE CAUSE

There is too much clearance in the tabs that mount the instrument panel to the gauge assembly.

DIAGNOSIS

Press on the instrument panel where it meets the bottom of the speedometer. If the buzzing stops, continue with CORRECTIVE ACTION.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Reduce the clearance in the mounting tabs with EPT Sealer 3T (See REQUIRED MATERIALS).




1. Remove the side defogger trim by pushing up on the trim and prying carefully on the edge with a small screwdriver




2. Remove the three mounting screws. Remove the instrument panel.




3. Cut two 5 x 10 mm pieces of EPT Sealer 3T Fold the pieces in half, adhesive side out, and insert them in the slots as shown.

4. Reinstall the instrument panel and the defogger trim.
