Ignition Switch: Testing and Inspection
CAUTION:
^ All SRS wire harnesses are covered with yellow insulation. Before you disconnect any part of an SRS wire harness, disconnect the airbag connectors.
^ Whenever the ignition switch ON (II), or has been turned OFF for less than three minutes, be careful not to bump the SRS unit; the airbags could accidentally deploy and cause damage or injuries.
^ For additional precautions, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts.
Ignition Switch - Test:
1. Remove the driver's side kick panel.
2. Disconnect the switch harness 7-P connector from the under-dash fuse/relay box.
Ignition Switch - Test:
3. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.
4. If the continuity checks do not agree with the table, check for a bad connection between the switch and switch harness.
^ If connection is OK, replace the switch.
^ If connection isn't OK, repair as necessary, and recheck. If continuity checks still do not agree with the table, replace the switch.
