Cup Holder Lid Will Not Close or Is Stuck Closed (Supersedes 95-047, dated February 17, 1997)
SYMPTOM
The cup holder lid is stuck open or closed.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The latch on the cup holder lid is damaged or missing.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the cup holder assembly as described in REPAIR PROCEDURE.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration and get a decision, before starting work.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Manual transmission only: Remove the shift lever knob.
2. Remove the rear console.
3. Remove the four screws from the front console, lift the rear edge, then pull the console backward until it separates from the cup holder.
4. Make sure the four clips are attached to the front console. If the clips are on the cup holder, take them off and reinstall them on the console.
5. Remove the four screws from the console panel, then remove the panel.
6. Separate the cup holder from the console panel by removing the four front screws (A) and the two rear screws (B). Discard the cup holder.
7. Attach the new cup holder (see PARTS INFORMATION) to the console panel, and reinstall the panel.
8. Reinstall the front console over the cup holder, and make sure the four clips are securely pressed into position around the cup holder and the console panel.
9. First, reinstall the front console lower screws (A), then reinstall the upper screws (B).
10. Reinstall the rear console.
11. Manual transmission only: Reinstall the shift lever knob.
