Fan Circuit - Low Mode
Fan Circuit Low Mode Troubleshooting1. Check the No. 58 (30 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES - Go to step 2.
NO - Replace the fuse and recheck.
2. Remove the condenser fan relay from the underhood fuse/relay box, and test it.
Is the relay OK ?
YES - Go to step 3.
NO - Replace the condenser fan relay.
3. Measure the voltage between condenser fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box.
4. Connect a jumper wire between the condenser fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and No. 2.
Do the radiator fan and condenser fan run?
YES - Go to step 12.
NO - Go to step 5.
5. Disconnect the jumper wire.
6. Disconnect the radiator fan motor 2P connector.
7. Check for continuity between the condenser fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and radiator fan motor 2P connector No. 2.
Is there continuity?
YES - Test the radiator fan motor. If the radiator fan motor is OK, check for an open in the wire between the radiator fan motor and body ground.
NO - Go to step 8.
8. Remove the radiator fan main relay from the ABS relay box, and test it.
Is the relay OK ?
YES - Go to step 9.
NO - Replace the radiator fan re lay.
9. Check for continuity between the condenser fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and radiator fan main relay 5P socket terminal No. 5.
Is there continuity?
YES - Check for an open in the wire between the ABS relay box and the radiator fan motor.
NO - Go to step 10.
10. Disconnect the condenser fan motor 2P connector.
11. Check for continuity between the condenser fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and condenser fan motor 2P connector No. 2.
Is there continuity?
YES - Test the condenser fan motor. If the condenser fan motor is OK, check for an open in the wire between the condenser fan motor and ABS relay box.
NO - Check for an open in the wire between the under-hood fuse/relay box and condenser fan motor.
12. Disconnect the jumper wire, and turn the ignition switch on (II).
13. Measure the voltage between the condenser fan relay 4P socket terminal No. 3 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Check for an open in the wire between the under-hood fuse relay box and passenger's underdash fuse/relay box.
NO - Replace the under-hood fuse/relay box.
