Rear Ceiling Light Flickers
SYMPTOM
The rear ceiling light flickers while driving.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Improperly adjusted or damaged tailgate switch.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Inspect the switch, and replace it if it is damaged. Check the tailgate adjustment.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the tailgate switch. See page 22-97 of the 2002-04 CRV Service Manual.
2. Inspect the tailgate switch:
^ If the contact tab is bent, replace the switch, then go to step 3.
^ If the contact tab is not bent, go to step 3.
3. Install the tailgate switch.
4. Check the tailgate for a flush fit with the body. Check for equal gaps (top, bottom, and both sides) between the tailgate and the body. Adjust the tailgate if necessary. See page 20-123 of the service manual.
5. Check the tailgate striker and wedge adjustment. Adjust the striker and wedge if necessary. See page 20-124 of the service manual.
