SRS Unit Replacement

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
2. Disconnect the driver's and front passenger 5 airbag connectors.
3. Disconnect the side airbag connectors.
4. Disconnect both seat belt tensioner connectors and both seat belt buckle tensioner connectors.
5. Remove the dashboard center lower cover.




6. Remove the right heater unit duct (A).




7. Pull down the carpet on the right side, then remove the Torx bolt (A) and the harness clip (B) from the SRS unit.




8. Pull down the carpet on the left side, then disconnect the connectors. Remove the Torx bolt (A), loosen the Torx bolt (B), then pull out the SRS unit from the right side.

Installation




1. Install the new SRS unit (A) with Torx bolts (B), then connect the connectors (C) to the SRS unit; push them into position until they click.

NOTE: When tightening the Torx bolts to the specified torque, be careful to turn them in so that their heads rest squarely on the brackets.

2. Install the right heater unit duct.
3. Reinstall the dashboard center lower cover.
4. Reconnect the driver's and front passenger's airbag connectors.
5. Reconnect the side airbag connectors.
6. Reconnect both seat belt tensioner connectors and both seat belt buckle tensioner connectors.
7. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
8. Initialize the OPDS unit.
9. After installing the SRS unit, confirm proper system operation: Turn the ignition switch ON (II); the SRS indicator should come on for about 6 seconds and then go off.
