DIAGNOSIS

1. Inspect the gap between the sunglasses holder and the roof console at the opening edge of the sunglasses holder. The gap should be the same on all sides of the sunglasses holder:

^ If the gap is the same, go to REPAIR
PROCEDURE A.

^ If the gap is not the same, go to REPAIR
PROCEDURE B.

REPAIR PROCEDURE A

1. Remove the roof console assembly:

^ Refer to step 4 on page 20-115 of the 2003-05 Accord Service Manual, or

* ^ Online, enter keyword LINER, select Headliner Removal/Installation from the list, and refer to step 4 in the procedure.*

2. 2-door EX only: Measure the clearance between the foam block and the moonroof frame. If the clearance is not 1 mm or more, use a razor knife to cut the top portion of the foam block to get the 1 mm clearance.

*3. Remove and discard the sunglasses holder lock cam.

NOTE:
If possible, use your fingers so you do not damage the roof console assembly.*

*4. Install the new lock cam to the roof console assembly.

5. Inspect the headliner, and make any necessary repairs.*

6. 2-door EX only: Without adding force, hold the roof console assembly against the opening in the headliner. Make sure the bolt holes for the assembly align with the holes in the moonroof frame. If the bolt holes do not align, reposition the wiring harness in the headliner until the roof console holes are aligned.

REPAIR PROCEDURE B

*1. Remove and discard the roof console assembly:

^ Refer to step 4 on page 20-115 of the 2003-05 Accord Service Manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword LINER, select Headliner Removal/Installation from the list, and refer to step 4 in the procedure.

NOTE:
Because the old roof console assembly is permanently damaged, a new roof console assembly must be installed.*

2. 2-door EX only: Measure the clearance between the foam block and the moonroof frame. If the clearance is not 1 mm or more, use a razor knife to cut the top portion of the foam block to get the 1 mm clearance.

*3. Inspect the headliner, and make any necessary repairs.*

4. 2-door EX only: Without adding force, hold the new roof console assembly against the opening in the headliner. Make sure the bolt holes for the assembly align with the holes in the moonroof frame. If the bolt holes do not align, reposition the wiring harness in the headliner until the holes are aligned.

5. Install the new roof console assembly. Make sure the new roof console is not binding against the headliner or the wiring harness.

6. Test the lock operation by opening and closing the sunglasses holder.
