Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Oil Pan Installation

Oil Pan Installation
1. Remove old liquid gasket from the oil pan mating surfaces, bolts, and bolt holes.
2. Clean and dry the oil pan mating surfaces.

3. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08718-0009, evenly to the cylinder block mating surface of the oil pan and to the inner threads of the bolt holes.

NOTE: Do not install the parts if 5 minutes or more have elapsed since applying liquid gasket. Instead, reapply liquid gasket after removing old residue.

4. Install the oil pan.

5. Tighten the bolts in two or three steps. In the final step, tighten all bolts, in sequence, to 12 Nm (1.2 kgf-m, 8.7 ft. lbs.).

6. Install the stiffener (M/T).
7. If the engine is still in the vehicle, install the sub frame.
- 1 Support the sub-frame with the special tool and a jack, and lift it up to body, then loosely install the new sub-frame mounting bolts (see step 4).
- 2 Align the reference marks with the center of the sub-frame mounting bolts, then tighten the bolts to the specified torque (see step 6).
- 3 Install the ATF filter mounting bolt (see step 22).
- 4 Tighten the front mount mounting bolt (see step 7).
- 5 Tighten the rear mount mounting bolts (see step 8).
- 6 Connect the suspension lower arm ball joints (see step 10).
8. After assembly, wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
