ATF Replacement
ATF ReplacementNOTE: Keep all foreign particles out of the transmission.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground, remove the clips securing the front of the under cover, then open the under-cover.
2. Remove the drain plug (A), and drain the automatic transmission fluid (ATF). Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer (B).
3. Refill the transmission with the recommended fluid into the filler hole (A). Always use Honda ATF-Z1 Automatic Transmission Fluid ATF). Using nonHonda ATF can affect shift quality.
Automatic Transmission Fluid Capacity:
2.9 L (3.1 US qt) at changing
5.0 L (5.3 US qt) at overhaul
4. Check that the fluid level is between the upper mark (B) and lower mark (C) on COLD level.
5. Install the ATF filler bolt with a new sealing washer, and insert the dipstick back into the transmission.
6. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on).
7. Check that the fluid level is between the upper mark (A) and lower mark (B) on HOT level.
8. Install the under cover.
