DIAGNOSIS

1. Refer to the appropriate service manual to diagnose any problems with the CNG fuel tank.

3. Order the appropriate replacement CNG fuel tank assembly from Honda Parts Center 28. (You will need to provide the Tech Line reference number).*

NOTE:
The replacement CNG fuel tank assembly is shipped with a venting tool kit, (T/N 07AAZ-S5WA000) used to relieve fuel pressure in the faulty tank. This kit must be returned, in its original container, along with the faulty fuel tank assembly.

REPAIR AND RETURN PROCEDURE Service Advisor:

1. Access the CNG Fuel Tank Assembly Return Form from ISIS, and complete your part of the form:

^ Log on to the iN (Interactive Network).

^ From the iN home screen, click on "Service," then from the drop-down menu, click on "Service Publications (ISIS)" to bring up the ISIS home page.

^ From the ISIS home page, click on "Search by Publication," then click on "Job Aids" from the drop-down menu.

^ From the list of forms, select "CNG Fuel Tank Assembly Return Form," then print it out.

^ Before you fill out your part of the form, make a few copies to have on hand.

Here is what the form looks like:

Technician:

2. Fill out your part of the form.

3. Vent the fuel pressure from the faulty fuel tank with the venting tool kit that came with the replacement fuel tank assembly. Refer to Service Bulletin 01-099, Service Manual Update: Venting the ONG Fuel Tank, found under "Fuel and Emissions."

4. Remove the faulty fuel tank assembly. Make sure the faulty fuel tank is completely empty, and reinstall the manual lock-down valve. Refer to the appropriate service manual.

* Hazmat Shipping Warning

You, the Technician, are responsible for ensuring that your section of the tank return form is filled out, and for fully venting the CNG from the faulty CNG fuel tank assembly before repackaging it in the crate for return shipping. The DOT (Department of Transportation), can and will impose substantial fines and/or penalties on the shipper (the dealership) if the tank is shipped containing any pressurized CNG, or if the packaging, labeling, or documentation are not properly prepared.

NOTE:
Any CNG fuel tank assembly that is returned disassembled or damaged will be considered an unusable core. Your warranty claim will be debited a $5,000 "Core Loss" charge.*

5. After installing the remanufactured fuel tank assembly, put the faulty fuel tank assembly and the venting tool kit back into the shipping container.

6. On the repair order and on the CNG fuel tank assembly return form, write down the Tech Line reference number, and the serial numbers of the new and the faulty fuel tanks.

Parts Manager:

*7. Confirm with the technician that the CNG has been fully vented from the faulty tank.

Hazmat Shipping Warning

You, the Shipper (dealership), are responsible for confirming that the Technician fully vented the CNG from the faulty CNG tank assembly that is to be returned, and that the proper packaging and all required documents are complete before shipping the container. The DOT (Department of Transportation), can and will impose substantial fines and/or penalties on the Shipper (the dealership) if the tank is shipped containing pressurized CNG, or if the packaging, labeling and/or documentation are not properly prepared.

8. Fill out the requested information on the UPS Dangerous Goods Airbill that came in the container with the remanufactured fuel tank. The airbill should have this return address preprinted on it:

AHM Remanufactured Parts
Honda Parts Center 28
1765W. Penhall Way
Anaheim, CA 92801

Do not use an ordinary UPS airbill. The preprinted airbill has a special account number on it for the exchange program. If you need more airbills, call Honda Parts Center 28.*

9. Ship the faulty fuel tank assembly and the venting tool kit in the same container that the remanufactured assembly came in.

^ Make sure you include a copy of the CNG Fuel Tank Assembly Return Form with the faulty fuel tank assembly. If the form is incomplete or not in the container, you will be charged a $50.00 diagnostic fee.

^ Failure to return the faulty tank assembly and the venting tool kit within 30 days will result in a $5,000 core charge to your dealership.
