Engine Controls - High Engine RPM on Deceleration

2006 Civic Hybrid - ALL
Occasional High Engine RPM During Deceleration
SYMPTOM
When decelerating from highway speeds while driving straight ahead, the engine speed occasionally stays high (around 4,000 rpm).
PROBABLE CAUSE
The 2006 Civic Hybrid is equipped with corner G control system. While decelerating through a corner, this system changes the transmission pulley ratios to obtain the best engine speed. But, if there is even a minor difference in size between the rear tires, the PCM may "think" the vehicle is cornering when it's not. This causes a higher than normal engine speed during deceleration while driving straight.
NOTE:
Same-sized tires from different manufacturers can vary in rolling circumference.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the PCM CVT software with the HDS. The update gives the PCM more tolerance to small size variations between the rear tires.
