Pressure Test
Pressure TestSpecial Tools Required
^ A/T oil pressure gauge set 07406-0020400 or 07406-0020401
^ A/T low pressure gauge 07406-0070300
^ A/T high pressure gauge 07AAJ-PLYA100
^ A/T pressure hose, 2,210 mm 07MAJ-PY4011A
^ A/T pressure hose adapter 07MAJ-PY40120
1. Make sure the transmission fluid is filled to the proper level.
2. Lift the vehicle up on a hoist, or apply the parking brake, block the rear wheels, and raise the front of the vehicle. Make sure it is securely supported.
3. Warm up the engine (the radiator fan comes on), then stop it.
4. Allow the front wheels to rotate freely.
5. Remove the undercover (A) and splash shield (B).
6. Use the special tools. Do not allow dust or other foreign particles to enter the ports while connecting the gauges.
NOTE:
^ Drive pulley pressure and driven pulley pressure may be above 3,430 kPa (35.0 kgf/cm2, 4,989 psi) when there is a transmission problem that causes the PCM to go into fail-safe mode.
^ When troubleshooting, you must use the A/T high pressure gauge (07AAJ-PLYA100) to measuring drive pulley pressure and driven pulley pressure.
7. Turn off the engine, and connect the HDS to the DLC (A).
NOTE: If the HDS does not communicate with the PCM, troubleshoot the DLC circuit.
8. Connect the gauge (07406-0020400 or 07406-0020401) to the reverse brake pressure inspection port (A).
9. Connect the gauge (07406-0020400 or 07406-0020401) to the forward clutch pressure inspection port (B).
10. Connect the A/T low pressure gauge (07406-0070300) to the lubrication pressure inspection port (C).
11. Connect the A/T high pressure gauge (07AAJPLYA100) to the drive pulley pressure inspection part (D) and to the driven pulley pressure inspection port (E).
12. Start the engine.
13. Shift to the D position, and measure the forward clutch pressure at the forward clutch pressure inspection port (B) while holding the engine speed at 1,700 rpm.
14. Shift to the R position, and measure the reverse brake pressure at the reverse brake pressure inspection port (A) while holding the engine speed at 1,700 rpm.
15. Shift to the N position, and measure the drive pulley pressure at the drive pulley pressure inspection port (D) while holding the engine speed at 1,700 rpm.
16. Measure the driven pulley pressure at the driven pulley pressure inspection port (E) while holding the engine speed at 1,700 rpm.
17. Measure the lubrication pressure at the lubrication pressure inspection port (C) while holding the engine speed at 3,000 rpm.
18. Turn the engine off, then disconnect the pressure gauges from the pressure inspection ports.
19. Install the sealing bolts and new sealing washers to the pressure inspection ports, and tighten the bolts to 18 Nm (1.8 kgf-m, 13 ft. lbs.). Do not reuse the old sealing washer.
20. If the measurements are out of standard, the problems and probable causes are listed in the table.
21. Install the splash shield and undercover.
