DTC B1206: HVAC or Climate Control Unit Lost Communication with Gauge Control Module (ECT messages)

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN system diagnosis test mode A.

1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
2. Operate the heater-A/C control system in several modes.
3. Check for DTCs using the HDS.

Is DTC B1205, B1206 and/or B1207 indicated?

YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Intermittent failure, the gauge control module and HVAC or climate control unit are OK at this time.

4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Disconnect the HVAC or climate control unit 30P connector.
6. Remove the gauge control module.
7. Check for continuity between the HVAC or climate control unit 30P connector terminal No. 11 and gauge control module connector A (20P) terminal No. 6.

Is there continuity?

YES - Substitute a known-good HVAC or climate control unit, then return to step 3 and recheck. If the problem is still present, replace the gauge control module.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the HVAC control unit and gauge control module.
