DTC 85-62

DTC 85-61: No Signal from the OPDS Unit

DTC 85-62: Non-stipulated Response Data

1. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat.
2. Erase the DTC memory.
3. Read the DTC.

Is DTC 85-61 or 85-62 indicated?

YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures If another DTC is indicated, go to the DTC Troubleshooting Index. DTC List - Body Control System

4. Check the connection between the OPDS unit harness 8P connector D and the OPDS unit.

Is the connection OK?

YES - Go to step 5.

NO - Repair the poor connection and retest. If DTC 85-61 or 85-62 is still present, go to step 5.

5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
6. Check the No. 10 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.

Is the fuse OK?

YES - Go to step 7.

NO - Replace the fuse, then turn the ignition switch ON (II). If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. 10 (7.5 A) fuse circuit (dashboard wire harness, floor wire harness, front passenger's seat wire harness, or OPDS unit harness).

7. Disconnect the OPDS unit harness 8P connector D from the OPDS unit.
8. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

9. Check for voltage between the No. 4 terminal of the OPDS unit harness 8P connector D and body ground. There should be battery voltage.

Is there battery voltage?

YES - Go to Step 14.

NO - Go to step 10.

10. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

11. Disconnect dashboard wire harness 22P connector C504 (A) from the floor wire harness C504 (B).
12. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

13. Check for voltage between the No. 15terminal of the dashboard wire harness 22P connector C504 and body ground. There should be battery voltage.

Is there battery voltage?

YES - Open in the WHT wire of the floor wire harness, front passenger's seat wire harness or OPDS unit harness; replace the faulty harness.

NO - Open in the WHT wire of the dashboard wire harness; replace the dashboard wire harness.

14. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

15. Check resistance between the No. 8 terminal of the OPDS unit harness 8P connector D and body ground. There should be 0 - 1.0 ohm.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Go to step 16.

NO - Open in the OPDS unit harness, front passenger's seat wire harness or floor wire harness; check the connection at G651. If the connection is OK, replace the faulty harness.

16. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait for 3 minutes.
17. Disconnect SRS unit connector A (28P) from the SRS unit.

18. Check resistance between the No. 14 terminal of SRS unit connector A (28P) and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 Mohm.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Go to step 19.

NO - Go to step 22.

19. Check resistance between the No. 14 terminal of SRS unit connector A (28P) and the No. 7 terminal of the OPDS unit harness 8P connector D.There should be 0 - 1.0 ohm.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Faulty OPDS unit or SRS unit; replace the OPDS unit. If the problem is still present, replace the SRS unit.

NO - Go to step 20.

20. Disconnect the floor wire harness 12P connector C931 from the front passenger's seat wire harness.

21. Check resistance between the No. 14 terminal of SRS unit connector A (28P) and the No. 7 terminal of floor wire harness 12P connector C931.There should be 0 - 1.0 ohm.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Open in the front passenger's seat wire harness or OPDS unit harness; replace the faulty harness.

NO - Open in the dashboard wire harness or the floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness.

22. Disconnect front passenger's seat wire harness 4P connector C932 from the OPDS unit harness.

23. Check resistance between the No. 14 terminal of SRS unit connector A (28P) and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 Mohm.

Is the resistance as specified?

YES - Short to ground in the OPDS unit harness; replace the OPDS unit harness.

NO - Short to ground in the dashboard wire harness, front passenger's seat wire harness or floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness.
