Sliding Door Does Not Open All The Way

SYMPTOM

The sliding door does not open all the way even though the window is closed.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The carrier plate on the window regulator is not contacting the lever arm properly, making the sliding door control unit think the window is open.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the window regulator.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

DIAGNOSIS

NOTE:
If a rear window is open more than about 5 inches (120 mm), the power sliding door is designed to stop about halfway to avoid injury.

1. Remove the door sash inner trim:

^ Refer to page 20-42 of the 2007-2008 Odyssey Service Manual, or

^ Online, enter keywords DOOR SASH, and select Sliding Door Sash Inner Trim Replacement from the list.

2. Remove the door sash outer trim:

^ Refer to page 20-42 in the service manual, or

^ Online, enter keywords DOOR SASH, and select Sliding Door Sash Outer Trim Replacement from the list.

3. Remove the door panel:

^ Refer to page 20-20 in the service manual, or

^ Online, enter keywords DOOR PANEL, and select Sliding Door Panel Removal/Installation from the list.





4. Roll the window down about 5 inches (120 mm) and watch for the regulator lever arm to move to the right, touching the rubber stop. Roll the window all the way up and watch for the regulator lever arm to move to the left. Total cable travel should be around 22 mm. If the arm is not moving or is not moving to it's full range, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. If the arm is moving normally, continue with normal troubleshooting.





NOTE:
The lever arm should move when the window is open about 5 inches (120 mm).

REPAIR PROCEDURE

Replace the window regulator:

^ Refer to page 20-27 in the service manual, or

^ Online, enter keywords DOOR REGULATOR, and select Sliding Door Glass and Regulator Replacement from the list.
