Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar AreasSpecial Tools Required

A-Pillar Trim
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
1. Pull out the front door opening trim as needed.
2. Remove the A-pillar trim (A).
1. Pry the A-pillar cap (B) out until it is stopped by the hooks (C) in the grommet (D).
2. Pull the trim back by hand to detach the clip.
3. Release the hooks on the grommet and pull the cap out. Discard the cap.
3. Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Do not reuse the A-pillar cap; always replace it.
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the A-pillar trim with a new one.
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect removed pieces and replace them if they are damaged:
- Any cracks, deformations, or stress-whitened areas in the A-pillar trim (A)
- Any cracks, or stress-whitened areas in the grommet and clip seating surfaces (B)
- Bent or broken grommet (C)
- Replace any damaged parts with new ones.
- Make sure the top of the trim overlaps with the headliner correctly.
- Push the clips into place securely.

B-Pillar Upper/Lower Trim
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repair or service.
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
1. Remove these items:
- Front door sill trim
- Sliding door sill trim
- Front door opening trim, as needed
- Sliding door opening trim, as needed
2. Driver's: Pull the lower anchor cover (A) back, and remove the lower anchor bolt (B).
3. Remove the B-pillar lower trim (A).
1. Detach the clips by pulling the bottom of the trim back by hand.
2. Pull the trim back to release the upper hooks (B).
4. Remove the upper anchor cover (A), and remove the upper anchor bolt (B).
5. Remove the B-pillar upper trim (A).
1. Pry the B-pillar cap (B) out while releasing the hooks (C) until it is stopped by the grommet (D).
2. Pull the cap with the grommet out. Discard the cap.
3. Pull the bottom of the trim back by hand to detach the lower clip.
4. Pull the trim down to release the B-pillar trim from the headliner (E).
6. Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Do not reuse the B-pillar cap; always replace it.
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the B-pillar upper trim with a new one.
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect removed pieces and replace them if they are damaged:
- Any cracks or deformations, or stress-whitened areas in the B-pillar upper trim (A)
- Any cracks, or stress-whitened areas in the grommet and clip seating surfaces (B)
- Bent or broken grommet (C)
- Any cracks or deformations in the B-pillar lower trim (D), and any breakages in the area (E) that overlaps the B-pillar upper trim
- Make sure the top of the trim overlaps with the headliner correctly.
- Push the clips into place securely.
- Apply liquid thread lock to the front seat belt upper anchor bolt and driver's lower anchor bolt before installation.
- Before installing the anchor bolt, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.

C-Pillar Trim
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set.
1. Remove the upper anchor cover (A), and remove the upper anchor bolt (B).
2. Remove the C-pillar trim (A).
1. Pry the C-pillar cap (B) out while releasing the hooks (C) until it is stopped by the grommet (D)
2. Pull the cap with the grommet out. Discard the cap.
3. Pull the lower edge of the trim back to detach the hooks (E) from the rear side trim panel (F).
3. Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Do not reuse the C-pillar cap; always replace it
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the C-pillar trim with a new one.
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect removed pieces and replace them if they are damaged:
- Any cracks, or stress-whitenings in the C-pillar trim (A)
- Any cracks, or stress-whitened areas in the grommet seating surface (B)
- Bent or broken grommet (C)
- Make sure the top of the trim overlaps with the headliner correctly.
- Push the clips and hooks into place securely.
- Before installing the anchor bolt, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the belt.

D-Pillar Trim
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:

- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
1. Remove these items:
- Spare tire cover and the spare tire.
- Rear side trim panel, as need.
- Tailgate weatherstrip, as necessary.
2. Remove the D-pillar trim (A).
1. Open the cap (B) then remove the screw (C, D).
2. Pull the bottom of the trim back by hand to detach the clips (E, F).
3. Pull the trim down to release the upper hooks (G) from the headliner (I).
3. Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- If the side curtain airbag has deployed, replace the D-pillar upper trim with a new one.
- To prevent the side curtain airbags from deploying improperly and possibly causing injury, inspect removed pieces and replace them if they are damaged:
- Any cracks or deformations in the D-pillar upper trim (A) and the upper hooks (B), and any stress-whitenings in the upper part of the trim
- Any cracks or stress-whitenings in the clip seating surfaces (C)
- Replace any damaged parts with new ones.
- Make sure the top of the trim overlaps with the headliner correctly.
- Push the clips into place securely.
- Before installing the anchor bolt, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
- When installing the side trim panel, make sure the seat belt is not pinched.
