REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Lower the driver's door glass fully.

2. Using the appropriate trim tool, pry out the rear portion of the inner door handle cover to release the hooks, then remove the cover and the screws securing the inner handle.

3. Using the appropriate trim tool, pry up in the slot in the power window switch panel to release the rear clip.

4. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hooks and the front clip. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector and the power window switch connector.

5. Remove the screws, and detach the door panel clips using a commercially available trim removing tool. Starting at the rear of the door panel, pull the panel up off the door, then release the lock knob.

6. Disconnect the inner handle cable from the inner handle.

7. Disconnect the courtesy light bulb connector and the driving position memory switch connector, then remove the door panel and peel back enough of the plastic cover to access the door actuator.

8. Disconnect the cylinder rod from the lock cylinder, and disconnect the outer handle rod from the outer handle.

9. Remove the bolt, then remove the lower channel by pulling it downward.

10. Remove the screw securing the lock knob.

11. Disconnect the actuator connectors, and detach the inner handle cable clip. Remove the three screws securing the latch and the lock cable protector.

12. Remove the latch with the protector through the hole in the door. Take care not to bend the outer handle rod, the cylinder rod, the lock cable, or the inner handle cable.

13. Remove the screws, then remove the upper cover and the base cover from the latch by releasing the hook.

14. If necessary, disconnect the inner handle cable from the latch, and apply new anti-friction tape to the inner handle cable if necessary.

15. Remove the screw securing the metal support bracket, and remove the bracket from the latch. Note the position of the lever arm; it needs to be in the same position when you reassemble the latch.

16. Release the two hooks, and remove the actuator from the latch.

17. Install the new actuator, and reinstall the support bracket. Make sure the lever arm is positioned correctly when installing the bracket as shown in step 15.

18. If the old anti-friction tape seals on the covers need to be replaced, use isopropyl alcohol to clean the screw heads and the surface and edges of the covers where new tape is to be applied. Attach the new anti-friction tape seals to the screw heads and to the surface and edges of the covers as shown.

19. Reinstall the latch into the door, and reconnect the cylinder rod, the inner handle cable, and the lock cable.

20. Reconnect the actuator connectors, and reinstall the lock knob screw, the lower channel, the cylinder rod, and the outer handle rod.
