Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Oil Spray Jet: Testing and Inspection

Oil Jet Inspection

1. Remove the oil jet, and inspect it as follows.
^ Make sure that a 1.5 mm (0.059 inch) diameter drill will go through the nozzle hole (A) (1.6 mm (0.062 inch) diameter).
^ Insert the end of a 1.1 mm (0.043 inch) drill into the oil intake (1.2 mm (0.047 inch) diameter).
^ Make sure the check ball (B) moves smoothly and has a stroke of approximately 4.0 mm (0.16 inch).
^ Check the oil jet operation with an air nozzle. It should take at least 200 kPa (2.0 kgf/cm2, 28 psi) to unseat the check ball.

NOTE: Replace the oil jet assembly if the nozzle is damaged or bent.

2. The mounting torque is critical. Be very precise when installing the oil jet.
Torque: 16 Nm (1.6 kgf-m, 12 ft. lbs.)
