SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
- Take care not to tear the seams or damage the seat covers.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Check the front seat belts for damage, and replace them if necessary. Be careful not to damage them during removal and installation.
Front Seat Belt
1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio system, then write down the audio presets.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
3. Remove the front seat.
4. Remove these items:
- Front seat-back cover
- Front seat recline cover
5. Remove the lower anchor (A).
6. Remove these items:
- Front seat cushion cover
- Front seat belt buckle
7. Remove the front seat belt upper anchor (A).
8. Remove the screws (B), and the seat belt sleeve bracket (C) from the seat frame (D).
9. Detach the clip (E), then release the seat belt sleeve (F).
10. Detach the clips (A, B), then release the clips (C), and remove the recline rear cover (D) from the seat frame (E).
11. Remove the bolts (A), and the seat cushion protector (B) from the seat frame (C).
12. Disconnect and detach the seat belt tensioner connectors (A). Remove the wire tie (B) and detach the clip (C).
13. Remove the retractor mounting bolt (A), then remove the front seat belt and retractor (B).
14. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten them to specification with a torque wrench.
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions.
- Assemble the washers, on the upper and lower anchor bolts as shown.
- If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the seat belt protector with a new one.
- Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
- Make sure the seat belt tensioner connector is plugged in properly.
- Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
- Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
- Enter the anti-theft code for the audio system, then enter the audio presets.
- Reset the clock.
- Do the power window control unit reset procedure.
Seat Belt Buckle
1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio system, then write down the audio presets.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
3. Remove the front seat.
4. Lift up the front seat, then detach the seat belt buckle switch connector (A) and seat belt buckle tensioner connector (B), and on the driver's seat, remove the wire tie (C). On the passenger's seat, detach the harness clip (D).
5. Remove the center cover from the seat; driver's seat, passenger's seat.
6. Pull the seat belt buckle switch/tensioner harness (A) out through the space between the seat cushion and the seat linkage (driver's seat), or the hole on the seat track (passenger's seat).
7. Remove the center anchor bolt (B), and remove the seat belt buckle (C).
8. Install the seat belt buckle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply liquid thread lock to the center anchor bolt before reinstalling it, and collar.
- Assemble the washers and collar on the center anchor bolt as shown.
- If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the front seat belt protector with a new one.
- Apply liquid thread lock to the seat mounting bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten them to specification with a torque wrench.
- Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
- Enter the anti-theft code for the audio system, then enter the audio presets.
- Reset the clock.
- Do the power window control unit reset procedure.
