Condenser Fan: Service and Repair

Fan, Fan Motor, and Shroud Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE:
^ Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
^ To avoid damaging the wires and terminals, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
^ Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact any other wiring or hoses, or interfere with any other parts.

1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio system and navigation system (if equipped). Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then disconnect the positive cable.
3. '07 model: Remove the front grille cover.
4. '08 model: Remove the front bumper.
5. Remove the battery.
6. Remove the intake air duct.
7. Remove the battery base.
8. Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch connector (A) and fan motor connectors (B).





9. Disconnect the hood switch connector (C).
10. J35A6 engine: Disconnect the engine mount control solenoid valve connector (A) and vacuum hoses (B).





11. Remove the ground cable (C) and the harness clamp (D).
12. Remove the two bolts securing the coolant reservoir, then remove the coolant reservoir.
13. Remove the two bolts (A), and loosen a bolt (B) securing the radiator fan shroud, then remove the radiator fan shroud assembly (C) from the battery side.





14. Remove the two bolts (D), and loosen the two bolts (E) securing the A/C condenser fan shroud, then remove the A/C condenser fan shroud assembly (F) from the battery side.
15. Disassemble the fan shrouds.





Installation

1. Assemble the fan shrouds.





2. Install the A/C condenser fan shroud assembly (A) from the battery side to the A/C compressor side, then install the two bolts (B), and tighten the two bolts (C).





3. Install the radiator fan shroud assembly (D) to the battery side, then install the two bolts (E), and tighten a bolt (F).
4. J35A6 engine: Connect the engine mount control solenoid valve connector (A) and vacuum hoses (B).





5. Install the ground cable (C) and harness clamp (D).
6. Connect the A/C compressor clutch connector (A) and fan motor connectors (B).





7. Connect the hood switch connector (C).
8. Install the battery base.
9. Install the intake air duct.
10. Install the battery.
11. '07 model: Install the front grille cover.
12. '08 model: Install the front bumper.
13. Connect the positive cable to the battery, then install the negative cable.
14. Enter the anti-theft code for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped).
15. Set the clock (on vehicles without navigation).
