Outside Temperature Display Is Higher Than Actual After Hot Restart

SYMPTOM

After a hot restart, the outside temperature in the information display or the MID is higher than the actual outside temperature. When the vehicle is driven, the displayed temperature quickly corrects itself, at a rate of about 1°F per second, until it matches the actual outside temperature.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The front climate control unit is malfunctioning.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the front climate control unit.

NOTE:
This service bulletin does not correct general problems with outside temperature display accuracy. For this issue, you need to calibrate the outside temperature indicator (see the service manual).

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the lower glove box:

^ Refer to page 20-140 of the 2007-2008 Odyssey Service Manual, or

^ Online, enter keywords LOWER GLOVE, then select Lower Glove Box Removal/Installation from the list.





2. Disconnect the front climate control unit connector, then remove the self-tapping screws and the front climate control unit.

3. Install a new front climate control unit, then reinstall the other parts in the reverse order of removal. After installation, operate various functions to make sure they work properly.

4. Run the self-diagnostic function to confirm that there are no problems in the system:

^ Refer to page 21-101 of the service manual, or

^ Online enter keywords CLIMATE HOW, then select How to Troubleshoot the Climate Control System (Front Climate Control) from the list.
