Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam Removal/InstallationSpecial Tools Required
KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 *

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before performing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
- Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the dashboard.
- Take care not to scratch the dashboard, body and other related parts.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
1. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the audio presets.
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
3. Remove these items:
- Driver's dashboard lower cover
- Dashboard center lower cover
- Center console
- Glove box
- Driver's dashboard side cover
- Kick panels, both sides
- A-pillar trim, both sides
- Steering column
4. Disconnect the A/T shift cable.
5. Remove the bolt securing the parking brake release lever (A).
6. Open the passenger's front door, and remove the passenger's dashboard side cover (A).
1. Pull out the front door opening trim (B), as necessary.
2. Pry up on the lower edge of the passenger's dashboard side cover at the notch (C) to release the clip (D).
3. Gently pull out along the edge to release the clips (E).
7. Gently pull out the right tweeter grille (A) to release the hooks (B), and disconnect the tweeter connector (C), then remove it.
8. Pull up the floor carpet (A) as needed. Remove the bolts (B), then remove the console front bracket (C).
9. Remove the clips (D), then remove the rear vent duct (E).
10. Pull up the floor carpet (A) as needed. Remove the clips securing the rear heater duct (B).
11. Slide the rear heater duct (A) rearward.
Driver's Side
12. From under the dash, disconnect the cabin wire harness connectors (A), interior wire harness connector (B), left side wire harness connectors (C), parking brake switch connector (D), brake switch connector (E), and dashboard wire harness connector (F) from the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box (G).
NOTE: Lift the large wire harness connector locks (H) before trying to remove the connectors from the fuse/relay box.
Middle portion
13. Disconnect the SRS unit connector (A), GPS antenna connector (B), A/C subharness connector (C), and floor wire harness connectors (D). Using a T30 Torx bit, remove the ground bolt (E).
Passenger's side
14. From under the dash, disconnect the passenger's door wire harness connectors (A), radio antenna connector (B), cabin wire harness connector (C), right side wire harness connector (D) and front glass defogger harness connector (E), then detach the connector clip and harness clip (F).
15. Open the driver's door, and remove the bolts (A, B). But the upper A and B bolts are not able to remove the body because the driver's door will interfere. Remove the remaining bolts (C, D, E, F), and lift up on the dashboard (G) to release it from the guide pins (H, I).
NOTE:
- Before removing the dashboard, make sure all the harnesses have been disconnected.
- Do not open the door fully with the driver's side upper dash bolts partially removed. Before removing the dashboard, open the driver's door until one-half position, then pull the upper dash bolts outward.
16. If necessary, detach the connector clip (A) and harness clip (B), and remove the bolts, then remove the center bracket (C).
17. Carefully remove the dashboard through the passenger's front door opening.
NOTE: Do not rest the dashboard on its lower center cover opening, or it may be damaged. Lay it on its front or back.
18. Install the dashboard in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Before tightening the bolts, make sure the wire harnesses are not pinched.
- Reinstall the center bracket on the center frame, and slightly tighten the mounting bolts. Reinstall the dashboard on the body. After tightening the dashboard mounting bolts, tighten the center bracket mounting bolts and center frame mounting bolts.
- Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly.
- Apply medium strength type liquid thread lock to the bolts securing the center bracket and the dashboard before reinstallation.
- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.
- Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
- Enter the anti-theft codes for the radio and navigation system, then enter the audio presets.
- Set the clock.
- Perform the power window control unit reset procedure.
- Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
