Heated Glass Element: Testing and Inspection
Function TestBefore troubleshooting the heated windshield wiper area circuit, do the multiplex integrated control system troubleshooting using B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.
NOTE: Before testing, check the No. 14 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box. No. 30 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the heated windshield wiper area relay in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
1. Disconnect the heated windshield wiper area relay from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
2. Remove the glove box.
3. Disconnect the heated windshield wiper area 2P connector.
4. Check for continuity between the No. 1 terminal of the heated windshield wiper area relay 4P socket and front window defogger 2P connector No. 1 terminal.
5. There should be continuity.
- If there is no continuity, check for:
- An open in the BLK/YEL wire between the heated windshield wiper area relay and heated windshield wiper area.
- If there is continuity, go to step 6.
6. Check for continuity between the heated windshield wiper area 2P connector No. 2 terminal and body ground.
7. If there is no continuity, check for an open in the wiper or poor ground (G401).
- If there is continuity, check for:
- Faulty climate control unit (or heater control panel).
- An open in the heated windshield wiper area wire. Repair the heated windshield wiper area wire or replace the windshield.
