SYMPTOM
The fuel fill door does not open when the opener is pushed.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Alabama-Produced Vehicles: The fuel fill door opener cable has insufficient stroke.
Ohio-Produced Vehicles: The fuel fill door spring is improperly adjusted.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
NOTE:
No vehicle will have both problems.
Alabama-Produced Vehicles: Adjust the fuel fill door opener cable to the third (rearmost) position on the cable holder.
Ohio-Produced Vehicles: Adjust the fuel fill door spring.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
Alabama-Produced Vehicles
NOTE:
^ Put on gloves to protect your hands.
^ Take care not to scratch the trim.
^ Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
^ Take care not to kink the fuel fill door opener cable.
1. Using a trim tool, pry out the bottom edge of the front side cap at the notch to release the hooks, then remove the cap from the driver's door sill trim.
2. Remove the screw securing the driver's door sill trim.
3. Release the hooks and tabs, then pull up on the driver's door sill trim by hand to detach the clips, then remove the trim.
4. Remove the front bolt, then loosen, but do not remove, the rear bolt from the fuel fill door opener. Lift out the opener assembly, and flip it upside down.
5. Disconnect the fuel fill door opener cable, then reattach it in the rearmost slot of the cable holder.
6. Reinstall the fuel fill door opener, then reinstall the front bolt and tighten it. Do not tighten the rear bolt yet.
7. Pop out the fuel fill door opener lock cylinder from the driver's door sill trim.
8. Reinstall the driver's door sill trim.
9. Reinstall the screw to secure the driver's door sill trim to the opener assembly.
10. Tighten the rear bolt, then reinstall the fuel fill door opener lock cylinder.
11. Reattach the front side cap to the driver's door sill trim.
12. Make sure the fuel fill door opener and the trunk lid opener operate properly.

^ Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage.
1. Open the fuel fill door. It may be necessary to have an assistant push down on the fuel fill door opener while you carefully pry open the fuel fill door with a KTC trim tool.
2. While wearing a glove, reach around the fuel fill door hinge and push against the door spring with your finger to increase the spring's opening.
3. Recheck the fuel fill door opener for proper operation, and repeat the previous step if needed.
