Dashboard Removal/Installation

Special Tools Required

- KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014*
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Technician Safety Information before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

- Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the dashboard.

- Take care not to scratch the dashboard, the body , or the other related parts.

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2. Remove these items:
- Driver's dashboard lower cover Drivers Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation

- Glove box Service and Repair

- Passenger's dashboard undercover Passengers Dashboard Undercover Removal/Installation

- Center lower cover Dashboard Center Lower Cover Removal/Installation

- Passenger's vent Service and Repair

- A-pillar trim, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - A-Pillar Trim

- Kick panel, passenger's side Service and Repair

- Steering column Service and Repair

- A/T model: Disconnect the A/T control cable A/T Shift Lever Removal (A/T)

- M/T model: Disconnect the shift cable Service and Repair

- Subwoofer, for some models Service and Repair

Driver's side

3. From under the dash, disconnect the tweeter harness connector (A) (for some models), the driver's door wire harness connectors (B), the brake pedal position switch connector (C), and the clutch switch connectors (D) (M/T model). Disconnect the throttle actuator control module connector (E).






Middle portion

4. Disconnect the SRS unit connector A, the engine compartment wire harness connectors (B), and the floor wire harness connectors (C).











Passenger's side

5. From under the dash, disconnect the passenger's door wire harness connectors (A), the antenna lead (B), the ECM/PCM connectors (C), the engine compartment wire harness connector (D), the roof wire harness connectors (E), and the heater subharness connectors (F). Disconnect the amplifier connectors (G), and release the vinyl tape (H) and the wire harness protector (I) from the amplifier (J) (for some models).

6. Detach all of the harness clips and the connector clips.






7. Remove the cap (A). Remove the bolts (B, C, D) and the nut (E), then lift up on the dashboard (F) to release it from the guide pins (G, H) on the body.

8. Carefully remove the dashboard through the front door opening.

9. Remove the center frame mounting bolts (I), then remove the center bracket (J) from the center frame (K).

10. Install the dashboard in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly.

- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the center frame mounting bolts before reinstallation.

- Reinstall the center bracket on the center frame, and slightly tighten the mounting bolts. Reinstall the dashboard on the body. After tightening both dashboard mounting bolts and the nut, tighten the center bracket mounting bolts and the center frame mounting bolts.

- Before tightening the bolts, make sure each wire harness is not pinched.

- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the antenna lead is connected properly.

- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures
