Front Passenger's Airbag Replacement
NOTE: If replacing the front passenger's airbag after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
Removal
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Remove the glove box. Service and Repair
3. Disconnect the front passenger's airbag 4P connector (A) from the dashboard wire harness B.
4. Remove the passenger's dashboard upper panel dashboard tray cover. Passengers Dashboard Upper Panel and Dashboard Tray Cover Removal/Installation
5. Remove the screws (A) and the mounting nuts (B) from the bracket. Cover the lid and dashboard with a cloth, and pry carefully with a screwdriver to lift the front passenger's airbag (C) out of the dashboard.
NOTE: The airbag lid has pawls (D) on its side that attach it to the dashboard.
Installation
1. Place the front passenger's airbag (A) into the dashboard. Tighten the mounting nuts (B) and screws (C).
2. Reinstall the dashboard tray cover and the passenger's dashboard upper panel. Passengers Dashboard Upper Panel and Dashboard Tray Cover Removal/Installation
3. Connect the front passenger's airbag 4P connector (A) to the dashboard wire harness B.
4. Reinstall the glove box. Service and Repair
5. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures
6. Clear any DTCs. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
7. After installing the airbag, confirm proper system operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II); the SRS indicator should come on for about 6 seconds and then go off.
