Unable to select audio disc changer

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first.

- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Insert a known-good disc into the audio disc changer.

Does the disc load?
YES - Go to step 2.

NO - Go to audio disc does not load troubleshooting. [1][2]Audio Disc Does Not Load


2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

3. Disconnect audio unit connector B (14P).

4. Disconnect audio disc changer connector A (18P).

5. Check for continuity between the audio unit connector B (14P) and body ground according to the table.





Is there continuity?
YES - Short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 6.






6. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio unit connector B (14P) according to the table.





Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES - Short in the wires between the audio unit and audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 7.






7. Check for continuity between audio unit connector B (14P) and audio disc changer connector A (18P) according to the table.





Is there continuity?
YES - Substitute a known-good audio disc changer Service and Repair and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio disc changer. Service and Repair If symptom is still present, substitute a known-good audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit. Audio Unit Removal/Installation

NO - Repair open in the wire between audio unit and audio disc changer.
