Rear Entertainment System Symptom Troubleshooting - DVD player unit button illumination does not work

DVD player unit button illumination does not work

NOTE:
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Problem verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Turn the combination lighting switch to the parking light position.

-3. Check if the DVD player unit buttons are illuminated.

Are the buttons illuminated?
-YES- Intermittent failure, the audio unit is OK at this time.
-NO- The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

2. Determine possible failure area (interior lights circuit, others):

-1. Check if several other buttons that are not related to the rear entertainment system are illuminated.

Are the buttons illuminated?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Troubleshoot the interior lights.

3. Determine possible failure area (DVD player unit, others):

-1. Do the RES self-diagnostic function to check the DVD INFO diagnosis.

Are the ILL+ and the ILL-LED value OK?
-YES- Replace the DVD player unit Service and Repair.
-NO- Go to step 4.

4. Open wire check (ILLUMI+ line):

-1. Turn the combination lighting switch off.

-2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-3. Disconnect the following connector.






-4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-5. Turn the combination lighting switch to the parking light position.

-6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.










Is there battery voltage?
-YES- The ILLUMI+ wire is OK. Go to step 5.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the No. B35 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the DVD player unit.

5. Open wire check (ILLUMI- (LED) line):

-1. Turn the combination lighting switch off.

-2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-3. Disconnect the following connector.






-4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.










Is there continuity?
-YES- Replace the DVD player unit Service and Repair.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the DVD player unit and the gauge control module.
