Rear screen backlight does not dim/remains dim

NOTE:
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Problem verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Turn the combination lighting switch to the parking light position.

-3. Rotate the dashlights brightness controller knob several times.

Does the rear screen brightness change?
-YES- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
-NO- The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

2. Determine possible failure area (DVD player unit, others):

-1. Rotate the dashlights brightness controller knob several times.

Does the DVD player unit buttons brightness change?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Go to DVD player unit button illumination does not work troubleshooting DVD Player Unit Button Illumination Does Not Work.

3. Open wire check (ILLUMI+ line):

-1. Turn the combination lighting switch off.

-2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-3. Disconnect the following connector.






-4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-5. Turn the combination lighting switch to the parking light position.

-6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.










Is there battery voltage?
-YES- Replace the rear controller and screen Service and Repair.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the No. B35 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the rear controller and screen.
