Tailgate Support Strut Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Tailgate Support Strut





1. With the help of an assistant, remove the pivot bolt (A) from the tailgate and the body, then remove the tailgate support strut (B).

2. Lower Taillight





1. Remove the screws, then remove the lower taillight assembly (A).

2. Disconnect the connectors (B).

3. Lower Tailgate Support Strut Bracket





1. Detach the hook (A), then remove the lower tailgate support strut bracket trim (B).





2. Remove the bolts (A), then remove the lower tailgate support strut bracket (B).

Installation

1. Lower Tailgate Support Strut Bracket





1. Install the lower tailgate support strut bracket (A), then install the bolts (B).





2. Install the lower tailgate support strut bracket trim (A). Make sure the hook (B) snaps into place securely.

2. Lower Taillight





1. Connect the connectors (A), then install the lower taillight assembly (B). Make sure the tab (C) locks into the holder (D) securely.

2. Install the screws.

3. Tailgate Support Strut





1. With the help of an assistant, install the tailgate support strut (A).
