Rearview Mirror Harness Cover Base Removal and Installation
Removal
1. Rearview Mirror (Auto Diming Type)
1. Carefully pry out the rearview mirror harness cover (A) to release the hooks (B), then slide the cover rearward.
2. Release the rearview mirror harness cover from the hooks (C) of the rearview mirror harness cover base (D).
3. Disconnect the rearview mirror harness connector (A).
4. Loosen the screw (A) with a TORX T20 bit, then slide the rearview mirror (B) rearward and off the mount (C).
2. Rearview Mirror Harness Cover Base
1. Carefully cut through the adhesive tape under the rearview mirror harness cover base (A) using a piano wire, then remove the base.
2. Use a putty knife to scrape off of the old adhesive tape from the windshield. Clean the bonding surface with a shop towel dampened with isopropyl alcohol. After cleaning, keep oil, grease and water from getting on the clean surface.
3. If the original rearview mirror harness cover base will be installed, use a putty knife to scrape off all of the old adhesive tape from the base. Clean the base surface with a shop towel dampened with isopropyl alcohol. After cleaning, keep oil, grease and water from getting on the clean surface. Apply primer to the area where the new double-sided adhesive tape will be applied to the base, and attach the adhesive tape to the base.
Installation
1. Rearview Mirror Harness Cover Base
1. Before installing the rearview mirror harness cover base, apply primer to the area where the harness cover base will be installed to the inside face of the windshield. Let the primer dry at least 10 minutes, then attach it to the windshield within 12 hours.
2. Attach the rearview mirror harness cover base (A) with the adhesive tape (B) to the inside face of the windshield as shown, then press the adhesive portions into place securely.
2. Rearview Mirror (Auto Diming Type)
1. Slide the rearview mirror (A) forward to the mount (B), then tighten the screw (C) with the TORX T20 bit.
NOTE: Before installing the mirror, remove the screw, and apply medium strength liquid thread lock to it.
2. Connect the rearview mirror harness connector (A).
3. Install the rearview mirror harness cover (A). Make sure the hooks (B, C) snap into place securely.
