Front Seat Frame Removal and Installation

Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters and the precautions and procedures Locations before doing repairs or service.

NOTE: Steps 1-16 show installing the passenger's side, steps 17-35 show installing the driver's side.

21. Side Airbag





NOTE:
* If the side airbag cover is secured with tape, remove the tape.
* Do not open the cover on the side airbag cover.
* Make sure that the seat-back cover/pad is installed properly. Improper installation may prevent proper deployment.
* Be sure to install the harness so that they are not pinched or interfering with other parts.

1. Install the side airbag (A), then tighten the new mounting nuts.

2. Install the clip (B).

22. Front Seat-Back Cover/Pad - Driver's Side





1. Install the seat-back cover/pad (A) on the seat-back frame (B).

23. Head Restraint Guides - Driver's Side





1. Install the head restraint guides (A).

24. Front Seat Back - Driver's Side





1. Install the hook strips (A) to the seat-back frame (B).





2. Install the airbag attachment wires A, B to the seat-back frame (C).





3. Install the harness clips (A).

4. Install the harness (B) through the holes (C) in the seat-back cover (D).





5. Install the hook strips (A).





6. Zip the seat-back cover (A).

7. Install the hook strip (B).

8. Install the connector clips (A).

9. Install the harness clips (B).

10. Install the harness holders (C) to the seat cushion frame springs (D).

11. Connect the connector (E).

25. Front Seat Cushion - Driver's Side





1. Install the seat cushion cover/pad (A) on the seat frame (B).

2. Install the hook strips (A) under the seat cushion.

3. Install the hook strips (A) to both sides of the seat cushion frame.

4. Install the clip (B) to the seat cushion frame.

With Seat Heater





5. With seat heater: Connect the connectors (A).

6. With seat heater: Install the harness clip (B).

7. With seat heater: Install the holders (C) to the seat cushion frame springs (D).





8. Install the elastic strap (A) to the seat cushion frame springs (B).

26. Front Seat Center Cover - Driver's Side





Power Seat

1. Install the upper center inner cover (A).

2. Install the center cover (B). Make sure the tabs (C) snap into place securely.

3. Install the screw (D).





Manual Seat

1. Install the center cover (A) to the recline inner cover (B). make sure the tabs (C) snap into place securely.

27. Front Seat Recline Cover - Driver's Side





Power Seat

1. Install the upper center inner cover (A) to the recline cover (B).

2. Connect the connector, then install the wire harness (C) to the hooks (D).

3. Install the clip (E) and tabs (F), then install the recline cover.

4. Install the tabs (G), then install the screw (H).





Manual Seat

1. Install the hook (A) and clip (B) of the recline cover (C).

2. Install the hooks (D) to the recline inner cover (E).

3. Install the hook (F) of the recline cover to the recline inner cover.

4. Install the recline knob (G) and screw (H).

28. Front Seat Height Adjuster Handle - Manual Seat





1. Install the height adjuster handle (A) and the screws (B).

2. Install the cap (C). Make sure the hooks (D) snap into place securely.

29. Front Cover - Power Seat





1. Install the tabs (A), set the pin (B), and install the hook (C), then install the front cover (D). Make sure the hooks snap into place securely.

30. Front Seat Slide Lever - Manual Seat





1. Install the seat slide lever (A), and install both sides of tabs (B) to the front seat rail (C).





2. Install the both seat slide lever springs (A) to the front seat rail (B).

3. Set the seat slide lever springs through the hooks (C) of the seat rail.

31. Front Seat Armrest





1. Install the pins (A) to the seat-back.





2. Install the armrest (A), then install the washer (B), the bushing (C), and the center pin (D).

3. Install the cap (E) to the armrest.

32. Front Seat - Driver's Side





1. Connect the connectors (A).

2. Install the harness clip (B).

Front Side





Rear Side





3. Install the seat mounting bolts (A).

NOTE:
* Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten them to the specified torque.
* Tighten the seat mounting bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown. Slide the seat all the way back and tighten bolts 1 and 2, then slide it forward and tighten bolts 3 and 4.





4. Install rear inner seat track end cover (A) and rear outer seat track end cover (B). Make sure the hooks (C) snap into place securely.

33. Head Restraint - Driver's Side





1. Insert the head restraint (A) to the seat-back as shown.

34. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Reconnection





NOTE: If the battery performance is abnormal, test the battery.

1. Clean the battery terminals.

2. Connect the positive cable (A) to the battery.

NOTE: Always connect the positive side first.

3. Connect the negative cable (B) to the battery.

4. Apply multipurpose grease to the terminals to prevent corrosion.

35. Front Seat Belt Lower Anchor Bolt





1. Install the lower anchor bolt.

NOTE: Before installing the anchor bolt, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.





2. Install the anchor cover (A). Make sure the hooks (B) and the tab (C) snap into place securely.

36. HDS DLC - Connection





1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting.

37. DTC - Clear

1. Clear the DTC(s) by following the screen prompts on the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then wait for 10 seconds.

38. OPDS Sensor Initialization

OPDS Sensor Initialization

When you replace the front passenger's seat-back cover/pad, the SRS unit, and/or the ODS unit, initialize the OPDS sensor with the HDS.

NOTE:
* Before initializing the OPDS sensor, clear the DTCs.
* Before initializing the OPDS sensor, make sure the battery is fully charged.
* A new (uninitialized) ODS unit installed with a faulty OPDS sensor (DTC 86-1x or 86-2x) can cause DTCs 85-71 and 85-78. If the SRS has a hard DTC 86-1x or 86-2x, troubleshoot the DTCs completely before replacing the ODS unit.
* Make sure all components of the front passenger's seat are correctly installed.
* Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat, including aftermarket seat covers or mats.
* Make sure there is nothing in the front passenger's seat-back pocket.
* Dehumidify inside of the vehicle with A/C.

1. Set the seat-back in a normal position.

2. From the HDS Main Menu, select SRS, then INITIALIZATION. In the INITIALIZATION Menu, select ODS Initialization. Follow the prompts until the OPDS sensor initialization has been completed.

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then wait for 10 seconds.

NOTE: If the ODS unit fails to initialize after several attempts, replace the seat-back cover/pad equipped with an OPDS sensor, and retry. If the ODS unit continues to fail to initialize, replace the ODS unit.
