Engine Oil Pump Chain Removal and Installation

Removal
1. Air Cleaner Assembly
1. Disconnect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor connector (A).
2. Remove the harness clamp (B).
3. Disconnect the intake air duct (C) and the intake air pipe (D).
4. Remove the air cleaner (E).
2. Vehicle Lift
1. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.
3. Front Wheel - Both Side
1. Remove both front wheels.
4. Front Splash Shield
1. Remove the bolts (A), then remove the clips (B) that secure the front inner fender and the front splash shield (C) to the body.
2. From under the front bumper (D), remove the clips (E).
3. From under the body, remove the clips (F), then pull out the front splash shield.
5. Front Floor Undercover
1. Remove the bolts (A) and the clips (B, C) securing the front floor undercover (D), then remove the front floor undercover.
6. Engine Oil - Replacement (Without Front Splash Shield)
1. Remove the drain bolt (A), and drain the engine oil.
2. Reinstall the drain bolt with a new washer (B) and torque to specification.
7. Drive Belt
1. Move the auto-tensioner (A) using the belt tension release tool in the direction of the arrow to relieve tension from the drive belt, then remove the drive belt.
8. Ignition Coil Cover
1. Remove the ignition coil cover.
9. Ignition Coil
1. Remove the ignition coils.
10. Cylinder Head Cover
1. Remove the dipstick (A).
2. Disconnect the breather hose (B).
3. Remove the two bolts (C).
4. Remove the cylinder head cover.
11. Set the Cam Shaft to Top Dead Center
1. Set the No. 1 piston at top dead center (TDC). The punch mark (A) on the VTC actuator and the punch mark (B) on the exhaust camshaft sprocket should be at the top. Align the TDC marks (C) on the VTC actuator and the exhaust camshaft sprocket.
12. Set The Crankshaft To Top Dead Center
1. Turn the crankshaft so its white mark (A) lines up with the pointer (B).
NOTE: The other pointer (C) is not used.
13. Cowl Top Cover - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat this procedure on the opposite side.
1. Remove the clip (A).
2. Pull out the hood rear seal (B).
3. Detach the hooks, and remove the cowl top cover (C).
14. Engine Support Hanger
1. Remove the idler pulley base.
2. Attach the universal lifting eyelet to the threaded hole (A) on the auto-tensioner.
3. Install the engine support hanger as shown.
4. Attach the hook to the slotted hole in the universal lifting eyelet.
5. Tighten the wing nut (A) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.
NOTE: Be careful when working around the windshield.
15. Lower Torque Rod - Disconnection
1. Remove the lower torque rod mounting bolts.
16. Front Engine Mount - Disconnection/Reconnection
1. Remove the front engine mount mounting bolt.
17. Subframe Support
1. Attach the subframe adapter (A) to the front subframe by looping the belt (B) over the front of the front subframe (C), then secure the belt with its stop (D).
2. Raise the jack and line up the slots in the subframe adapter arms with the bolt holes on the jack base, then securely attach them with four bolts.
18. Front Subframe - Move
1. Remove the 14 x 80 mm mounting bolts (A) and the 14 x 115 mm mounting bolts (B) from the front subframe (C) on rear side.
2. Install the 14 x 115 mm mounting bolts in the 14 x 80 mm mounting bolt slot, so they are about 30 mm (1.18 in) from the mounting surface.
3. Remove the front subframe mid mounting bolt (A) on both sides.
4. Remove the mounting bolts (A) from the front subframe (B) on front side.
5. Lower the jack slowly until the front subframe has dropped about 60 mm (2.36 in).
19. Lower Torque Rod Bracket
1. Remove the lower torque rod bracket.
20. Torque Converter Cover
1. Remove the torque converter cover.
21. Oil Pan Assembly
1. Remove the two transmission mounting bolts.
2. Remove the bolts securing the oil pan.
3. Using a flat blade screwdriver, separate the oil pan from the engine block in the places shown.
4. Remove the oil pan.
22. Cam Chain Case Peripheral Assembly
1. Remove the harness clamp.
23. VTC Oil Control Solenoid Valve
1. Remove the VTC oil control solenoid valve.
24. Crankshaft Pulley
1. Hold the pulley with the holder handle (A) and the crankshaft pulley holder (B).
2. Remove the bolt with a socket, 19 mm (C) and a breaker bar, then remove the crankshaft pulley.
25. Upper Torque Rod
1. Remove the upper torque rod.
26. Side Engine Mount
1. Remove the ground cable (A), the side engine mount bolt (B) and nut (C).
2. Remove the side engine mount.
27. Side Engine Mount Bracket, Engine Side
1. Remove the side engine mount bracket.
28. Cam Chain Case
1. Remove the cam chain case (A) and the spacer (B).
29. Cam Chain Auto-Tensioner
1. Loosely install the crankshaft pulley.
2. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to compress the auto-tensioner.
3. Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise to align the holes on the lock (A) and the auto-tensioner (B), then insert a 1.2 mm (3/64 in) diameter pin (C) into the holes. Turn the crankshaft clockwise to secure the pin.
NOTE: If the holes in the lock and the auto-tensioner do not align, continue to rotating the crankshaft counterclockwise until the holes align, then install the pin.
4. Remove the auto-tensioner.
30. Cam Chain Tensioner Arm and Cam Chain Guide
1. Remove cam chain guide B.
2. Remove cam chain guide A and the tensioner arm (B).
31. Cam Chain
1. Remove the cam chain.
32. Oil Pump Chain Tensioner
1. Loosely install the crankshaft pulley.
2. To hold the rear balancer shaft, insert a 6 mm long pin punch (A) into the maintenance hole in the balancer shaft holder and through the rear balancer shaft.
3. Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to compress the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.
4. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
5. Align the holes on the lock (A) and the oil pump chain auto-tensioner (B), then insert a 3.0 mm (7/64 in) diameter pin (C) into the holes. Turn the crankshaft clockwise to secure the pin.
6. Use a transmission jack to lift the transmission 30-40 mm (1.18-1.57 in), then remove the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.
33. Oil Pump Chain
1. Remove the oil pump sprocket (A) and the oil pump chain guide (B).
2. Remove the oil pump chain (C).
