Electrical Compass Unit Removal and Installation
Removal
NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.
1. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Disconnection
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable (A) from the battery.
NOTE: Always disconnect the negative side first.
3. Disconnect the positive cable (B) from the battery.
4. Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Front Door Sill Trim - Both Sides
1. Detach the hooks (A) and the tabs (B) from the kick panel (C) and the B-pillar lower trim (D), and pull up the front door inner sill trim (E) by hand to detach the clips (F), then remove the trim.
2. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
3. Front Door Opening Seal As Needed - Both Sides
1. Pull out the front door opening seal (A) from the trim hooks (B) around the front door opening flange, then detach the seal as needed.
2. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
4. A-Pillar Trim - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat on the opposite side.
1. Pull out the A-pillar trim (A) by hand to release the clips (B, C).
2. Put a shop towel (A) in the opening between the A-pillar trim (B) and the dashboard to prevent dropping the A-pillar clips.
3. Pull out and up on the A-pillar trim (A) to release it from the dashboard.
NOTE: The upper clip will stay in the body.
4. Remove the upper clip (A) from the body.
5. Rear Door Sill Trim - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat on the opposite side.
1. Pull the release strap to fold down the rear seat, then lift-up and latch the rear seat-back in the upright position.
2. Detach the hooks (A) and the tab (B) from the B-pillar lower trim (C) and the rear side trim panel (D), and pull up the rear door inner sill trim (E) by hand to detach the clips (F, G), then remove the trim.
6. Rear Door Opening Seal As Needed - Both Sides
1. Pull out the rear door opening seal (A) from the trim hooks (B) around the rear door opening flange, then detach the seal as needed.
2. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
7. B-Pillar Lower Trim - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat on the opposite side.
1. Slide the front seat forward fully.
2. Pull back the bottom portion of the B-pillar lower trim (A) by hand to detach the clips (B).
3. Pull back the upper portion of the B-pillar lower trim to detach the upper hooks (C), then remove the B-pillar lower trim.
8. Front Seat Belt Upper Anchor Bolt - Both Sides
1. Remove the front seat belt shoulder anchor adjuster cap (A), then remove the front seat belt upper anchor bolt.
2. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
9. B-Pillar Upper Trim - Both Sides
1. Pull back the bottom portion of the B-pillar upper trim (A) by hand to detach the hooks (B). Pull down the trim to release the upper hook (C) from the hole (D) in the body, then remove the B-pillar upper trim.
2. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
10. Tonneau Cover (For Some Models)
1. Remove the tonneau cover (A).
11. Cargo Floor Cover
1. Remove the cargo floor cover (A).
12. Tailgate Weatherstrip As Needed
1. Detach the tailgate weatherstrip (A) as needed.
13. Rear Trim Panel
1. Remove the clips (A).
2. Detach the hooks (B) and the tabs (C) from the rear side trim panels (D), and pull up the rear trim panel (E) by hand to detach the clips (F, G), then remove the rear trim panel.
14. Rear Damper Maintenance Cover - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat on the opposite side.
1. Fold down the rear seat-back.
2. Pull up the rear damper maintenance cover (A) by hand to detach the hooks (B), then remove the rear damper maintenance cover.
15. Rear Carpet Trim - Both Sides

1. Detach the clips (A), then tuck up the rear seat-back cover (B).

2. Detach the hooks (A) from the rear side trim panel (B), and pull up the rear carpet trims (C) by hand to detach the clips (D), then remove the rear carpet trims.
16. Rear Seat Cushion Foot Cover - Both Sides (Remove The Outer Left Side Only)

1. Pull up the rear seat cushion foot cover (A) by hand to detach the clips (B).
2. Detach the hooks (C), then remove the rear seat cushion foot cover.
17. Rear Seat Belt Lower Anchor Bolt - Both Sides
1. Remove the rear seat belt lower anchor bolt (A).
2. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
18. Rear Side Trim Panel - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat on the opposite side.
1. Carefully pry out on the upper hook (A) in the rear seat release lever cap (B) with the appropriate trim tool, then pull back the rear seat release lever cap to remove it.
2. Remove the screws (C).
3. Push in the center pin (A), then remove the trunk hook (B).
4. Remove the bolt (A), then remove the tie-down hook (B).
5. Detach the clips (A, B).
6. Detach the hooks (C) and the tabs (D) from the quarter pillar trim (E), and pull out the rear side trim panel (F) by hand to detach the clips (G, H).
7. Remove the rear seat release lever (A) from the rear side trim panel (B).
8. Detach the rear seat release cable (A) from the clips of the rear side trim panel (B), then remove the rear side trim panel.
19. Quarter Pillar Trim - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat on the opposite side.
1. Pull out the quarter pillar trim (A) by hand to detach the clips (B, C, D).
2. Pass the rear seat belt lower anchor (E) out through the hole in the quarter pillar trim, then remove the quarter pillar trim.
20. Roof Console Assembly
1. Remove the lenses (A), then remove the screws (B).
2. Open the console, then remove the screws (C).
3. Disconnect the connectors (D), then remove the roof console assembly (E).
21. Ceiling Light (without RES)
1. Turn the ceiling light switch OFF.
2. Carefully pry off the lens (A).
3. Remove the bulb.
4. Remove the ceiling light (B).
5. Disconnect the connector.
22. Rear Display Cover (With RES)
1. Turn the ceiling light switch OFF.
2. Carefully pry off the lenses (A) with a flat-tip screwdriver.
3. Remove the ceiling light (B).
4. Disconnect the connector.
5. Remove the rear display cover (A).
23. Rear Controller and Screen (With RES)
1. Disconnect the connector.
2. Remove the rear controller and screen (A).
24. Cargo Area Light
1. Turn the cargo area light switch OFF.
2. Carefully pry off the lens (A).
3. Remove the bulb.
4. Remove the cargo area light (B).
5. Disconnect the connector.
25. Grab Handles for One Vehicle
1. Lower the grab handle (A).
2. Insert the tips of the push pin/grab rail cap pliers (B) into the notch.
3. Gently squeeze the handles of the push pin/grab rail cap pliers (A), and pull the cap (B) straight out.
4. Remove the grab handle (A).
5. Remove the clips (A).
26. Sunvisor - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat on the opposite side.
1. Push the tab (A) with a flat-tip screwdriver through the hole in the front side of the bracket cover (B).
NOTE: Make sure the tab is unlocked.
2. While pushing in the tab (A) with a flat-tip screwdriver, release the sunvisor (B) from the holder (C), and rotate the sunvisor backward 45 °.
NOTE: Make sure the tab slides into the bracket cover as you rotate the sunvisor.
3. Disconnect the connector (A), then remove the sunvisor (B).
NOTE: If the sunvisor cannot be removed, the tab has not rotated into the bracket cover. Repeat step 2 to rotate the tab.
27. Headliner
1. Without moonroof: Disconnect the connector (A), and detach the harness clips (B) from the driver's side A-pillar.
2. Disconnect the connectors (A), and detach the harness clips (B) from the passenger's side A-pillar.
3. Disconnect the connectors (A), and detach the connector clips (B) and the harness clip (C) from the right quarter pillar.
Without moonroof
With moonroof
4. Slide the front seats all the way back, and recline the seat-back fully.
5. Fold down the rear seats.
6. Detach the clips (A) and release the fasteners (B) from the headliner (C) by pulling it down.
7. With the help of an assistant, lower the headliner.
8. With the help of an assistant, remove the headliner (A) through the tailgate opening.
NOTE: Do not bend the headliner. Bending the headliner will crease and damage it.
28. Electrical Compass Unit
1. Remove the electrical compass unit (A).
