Horn Removal, Installation, and Test

Removal

NOTE: Steps 1- 3 show removing the High Horn, Steps 4-7 show removing the Low Horn.

1. Vehicle Lift

1. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.

2. Front Splash Shield As Needed





1. Remove the bolts (A), then remove the clips (B) that secure the front inner fender and the front splash shield (C) to the body.

2. From under the front bumper (D), remove the clips (E).

3. From under the body, remove the clips (F), then pull out the front splash shield.

3. Horn - High





1. Disconnect the connector.

2. Remove the horn (A).

4. Front Grille

1. Apply protective tape (A) to the front grille lower trim (B).






2. Remove the clips (C) and detach the hooks (D).





3. Insert a shop towel (A) between the front grille (B) and the front grille lower trim (C).





4. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver (A) into the opening at the front grille (B), then turn the screwdriver to detach the clip (C). Repeat this step on the opposite side.





5. Remove the front grille (A).

5. Front Bumper Upper Duct





1. Remove the clips (A), then remove the front bumper upper duct (B).

6. Horn and Bracket Assembly





1. Disconnect the connector.

2. Remove the horn (A) and the bracket (B) as an assembly.

7. Horn - Low





1. Remove the horn (A) from the bracket (B).

Test

1. Horn - Test





1. Test the horn by momentarily connecting battery power to the terminal (A) and grounding the bracket (B). The horn should sound.

2. If it fails to sound, replace the horn (C).

Installation

NOTE: Steps 1- 4 show installing the Low Horn, Steps 5- 6 show installing the High Horn.

1. Horn - Low





1. Install the horn (A) to the bracket (B).

2. Horn and Bracket Assembly





1. Install the horn (A) and the bracket (B) as an assembly.

2. Connect the connector.

3. Front Bumper Upper Duct





1. Install the front bumper upper duct (A). Make sure the clips (B) snap into place securely.

4. Front Grille





1. Install the front grille (A) by pushing on the clip areas until the clips snap into place.

2. Install the clips (B).

5. Horn - High





1. Install the horn (A).

2. Connect the connector.

6. Front Splash Shield (2.4L) As Needed





1. Install the front splash shield (A), then install the bolts (B) and the clips (C, D). Make sure the clips snap into place securely.
