EPS Control Unit Removal and Installation
Removal
1. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Disconnection
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable (A) from the battery.
NOTE: Always disconnect the negative side first.
3. Disconnect the positive cable (B) from the battery.
4. Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Driver's Dashboard Panel Assembly
1. Carefully pry out the driver's dashboard panel assembly (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B).
2. Disconnect the connector (C), then remove the driver's dashboard panel assembly.
3. Driver's Dashboard Undercover
1. Turn the lock knob (A) 90 °, then gently pull down the front edge of the driver's dashboard undercover (B) to detach the clip (C).
2. Pull away the undercover to release the pin (D) from the holder (E), then remove the driver's dashboard undercover.
4. Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover
1. Carefully pry out the driver's dashboard lower cover (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B).
2. Disconnect the connector (C), then remove the driver's dashboard lower cover.
5. EPS Control Unit
1. Disconnect the accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor connector (A).
2. Disconnect the EPS control unit connectors (B) by pushing the lock (C) and pulling down the lever (D).
3. Remove the EPS control unit (E).
Installation
1. EPS Control Unit
1. Install the EPS control unit (A).
2. Pull up the lever (B) of the EPS control unit connectors (C), then confirm the connector is fully seated.
3. Connect the accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor connector (D).
2. Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover
1. Connect the connector (A), then install the driver's dashboard lower cover (B). Make sure the clips (C) snap into place securely.
3. Driver's Dashboard Undercover
1. Install the driver's dashboard undercover (A). Make sure the clip (B) snap into place securely, and the pin (C) into the holder (D) securely.
2. Turn the lock knob (E) 90 °.
4. Driver's Dashboard Panel Assembly
1. Connect the connector (A), then install the driver's dashboard panel assembly (B). Make sure the clips (C) snap into place securely.
5. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Reconnection
NOTE: If the battery performance is abnormal, test the battery.
1. Clean the battery terminals.
2. Connect the positive cable (A) to the battery.
NOTE: Always connect the positive side first.
3. Connect the negative cable (B) to the battery.
4. Apply multipurpose grease to the terminals to prevent corrosion.
6. EPS Control Unit After Install - Check
1. After installation, check these items:
* Start the engine, allow it to idle, and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times.
* Check that the EPS indicator does not come on.
