Front Impact Sensor Removal and Installation
Removal
NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.
1. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Disconnection
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable (A) from the battery.
NOTE: Always disconnect the negative side first.
3. Disconnect the positive cable (B) from the battery.
4. Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Front Grille
1. Apply protective tape (A) to the front grille lower trim (B).
2. Remove the clips (C) and detach the hooks (D).
3. Insert a shop towel (A) between the front grille (B) and the front grille lower trim (C).
4. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver (A) into the opening at the front grille (B), then turn the screwdriver to detach the clip (C). Repeat this step on the opposite side.
5. Remove the front grille (A).
3. Front Wheel Arch Protector Front Side As Needed - Both Sides
NOTE: Repeat on the opposite side.
1. Remove the screws (A) and the clips (B) securing the front wheel arch protector (C).
2. Carefully pry out the clip portions of the wheel arch protector with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (D, E), then detach the wheel arch protector front side as needed.
3. Put a shop towel (F) in the opening between the front wheel arch protector and the front fender.
4. Front Bumper
1. Remove the screws (A), the bolts (B), and the clips (C) securing the front bumper (D).
2. Pull out the front bumper (A) from the side spacer (B). Repeat this step on the opposite side.
3. Detach the clip (A). Repeat this step on the opposite side.
4. With the help of an assistant, pull out both sides of the front bumper (A) from the upper beam (B).
5. With the help of an assistant, disconnect the connectors (A), then remove the front bumper (B).
5. Front Impact Sensor
1. Disconnect the front impact sensor connector on the engine compartment wire harness.
2. Remove the TORX bolt using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the front impact sensor (A).
Installation

1. Front Impact Sensor
1. Install the front impact sensor (A) with the new TORX bolt using a TORX T30 bit.
2. Connect the front impact sensor connector on the engine compartment wire harness.
2. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Reconnection
NOTE: If the battery performance is abnormal, test the battery.
1. Clean the battery terminals.
2. Connect the positive cable (A) to the battery.
NOTE: Always connect the positive side first.
3. Connect the negative cable (B) to the battery.
4. Apply multipurpose grease to the terminals to prevent corrosion.
3. HDS DLC - Connection
1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting.
4. DTC - Clear
1. Clear the DTC(s) by following the screen prompts on the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then wait for 10 seconds.
5. Confirm Proper SRS Operation
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
6. Front Bumper
1. With the help of an assistant, connect the connectors (A), then install the front bumper (B).
2. With the help of an assistant, install both sides of the front bumper (A) to the upper beam (B).
3. Push the front bumper (A) until the clip (B) snaps into place. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
4. Install the front bumper (A) to the side spacer (B). Repeat this step on the opposite side.
5. Install the screws (A), the bolts (B), and the clips (C) securing the front bumper (D).
7. Front Wheel Arch Protector Front Side As Needed - Both Sides
1. Install the front wheel arch protector (A), then install the screws (B) and the clips (C). Make sure the clips (D, E) snap into place securely. Repeat this step on the opposite side.
8. Front Grille
1. Install the front grille (A) by pushing on the clip areas until the clips snap into place.
2. Install the clips (B).
