Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Removal and Installation


Installation

NOTE:
* SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.
* Be sure to install the harness wires so they are not pinched or interfering with other parts.
* The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat rail and must be replaced as an assembly.

1. Front Passenger's Seat Rail/Front Passenger's Weight Sensors as an Assembly









1. Install the front passenger's seat rail/front passenger's weight sensors as an assembly (A) to the seat frame, and loosely tighten the TORX nuts.

NOTE: The spacers and collars can be identified by their color. Make sure to install the spacers and collars as shown.





2. Tightening the TORX nuts using a TORX E18 socket. Tighten them in a crisscross pattern in two or more steps.





3. Install the seat cushion frame (A).

2. Front Seat Frame - Passenger's Side





1. Install the outer recline inner cover (A) and the inner recline inner cover (B) to the seat frame (C).

Rear Side





2. Install the rear raiser covers (A). Make sure the hook(s) (B) snap into place securely.

Front Side










3. Install the front foot covers (A). Make sure the hook(s) (B) and the clip (C) snap into place securely.

3. Front Seat-Back Cover/Pad - Passenger's Side





1. Install the seat-back cover/pad (A) on the seat-back frame (B).

4. Head Restraint Guide - Passenger's Side





1. Install the head restraint guides (A).

5. Front Seat-Back - Passenger's Side





1. Install the hook strips (A) to the seat-back frame (B).

2. Install the harness clips (C).





3. Connect the connectors (A) and harness clips (B) to the ODS unit (USA and Canada models) or OPDS unit (Mexico models) (C).





4. Insert the hooks (A), and install the cover (B) and the screw (C) and harness clip (D).





5. Install the airbag attachment wires A, B to the seat-back frame (C).





6. Install the harness clips (A).

7. Install the harness (B) through the holes (C) in the seat-back cover (D).





8. Install the hook strips (A) to the seat-back frame.





9. Zip the seat-back cover (A).

10. Install the hook strip (B).

With Seat Heater





Without Seat Heater





11. Install the connector clips (A).

12. Install the harness clips (B).

13. Install the harness holders (C) to the seat cushion frame springs (D).

14. Connect the connectors (E).

6. Front Seat Armrest - Passenger's Side





1. Install the pins (A) to the seat-back.





2. Install the armrest (A), then install the washer (B), the bushing (C), and the center pin (D).

3. Install the cap (E) to the armrest.

7. Front Seat Cushion - Passenger's Side





1. Install the seat cushion cover/pad (A) on the seat frame (B).





2. Install the hook strips (A) to under the seat cushion.





3. Install the hook strips (A), then install the clip (B).





4. With seat heater: Install the holders (A).

5. With seat heater: Install the harness clip (B).

6. With seat heater: Connect the connecters (C).





7. Install the elastic strap (A) to the seat cushion frame springs (B).

8. Front Seat Center Cover - Passenger's Side





1. Install the center cover (A) to the recline inner cover (B). Make sure the tabs (C) snap into place securely.

9. Front Seat Recline Cover - Passenger's Side





1. Install the hook (A) and clip (B) of the recline cover (C).

2. Install the hooks (D) to the recline inner cover (E).

3. Install the hooks (F) of the recline cover to the recline inner cover.

4. Install the recline knob (G) and screw (H).

10. Front Seat Assembly - Passenger's Side

Without Woofer





With Woofer





1. Connect the connectors (A).

2. Install the harness clip (B).

Front Side





Rear Side





3. Install the seat mounting bolts (A).

NOTE:
* Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten them to the specified torque.
* Tighten the seat mounting bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown. Slide the seat all the way back and tighten bolts 1 and 2, then slide it forward and tighten bolts 3 and 4.





4. Install rear inner seat track end cover (A) and rear outer seat track end cover (B). Make sure the hooks (C) snap into place securely.

11. Head Restraint - Passenger's Side





1. Insert the head restraint (A) into the seat-back as shown.

12. Front Seat Belt Lower Anchor Bolt - Passenger's Side





1. Install the lower anchor bolt (A).





2. Install the anchor cover (A). Make sure the hooks (B) and the tab (C) snap into place securely.

13. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Reconnection





NOTE: If the battery performance is abnormal, test the battery.

1. Clean the battery terminals.

2. Connect the positive cable (A) to the battery.

NOTE: Always connect the positive side first.

3. Connect the negative cable (B) to the battery.

4. Apply multipurpose grease to the terminals to prevent corrosion.

14. HDS DLC - Connection





1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting.

15. DTC - Clear

1. Clear the DTC(s) by following the screen prompts on the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then wait for 10 seconds.

16. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Initialization

Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Initialization

When you replace the SRS unit, the front passenger's weight sensor, the front passenger's seat frame, front passenger's seat rail, or the ODS unit, initialize the front passenger's weight sensor with the HDS.

NOTE:
* Before initializing the front passenger's weight sensor, clear the DTCs.
* Before initializing the front passenger's weight sensor, make sure the battery is fully charged.
* Make sure all components of the front passenger's seat are correctly installed.
* Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat, including aftermarket seat covers or mats.
* Make sure there is nothing in the front passenger's seat-back pocket.
* Keep the windows and the moonroof closed (if equipped).
* Make sure the vehicle is on level ground.
* Dehumidify inside of the vehicle with A/C.
* Do not touch the front passenger's seat during the operation check.
* Do not expose the front passenger's seat to sudden temperature changes.

1. Position the front passenger's seat all the way rearward, and adjust the seat-back to the forward most position. Do not move the seat from this position until the initialization is completed.

2. Drive the vehicle, and accelerate to 22 mph (36 km/h), then stop on level ground.

3. From the HDS Main Menu, select SRS, then INITIALIZATION. In the INITIALIZATION Menu, select SWS Initialization. Follow the prompts until the front passenger's weight sensor initialization has been completed.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

17. Confirm Proper SRS Operation

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
