Battery Symptom Troubleshooting
Low or dead battery
NOTE:
* A battery might be discharged under these conditions:
- Driving a vehicle 6 miles (10 km) or less per day.
- Leaving a vehicle parked without removing the ignition key from the ignition switch.
- Leaving a vehicle idling with high electrical loads such as headlight, seat heaters, wipers, rear window defogger, etc.
* When doing the following operation during the measurement of the parasitic draw, it may not be measured accurate:
- With keyless access system: Approaching a vehicle with remote.
- Locking or unlocking a door.
*: The value that just before the ignition switch is turned to ON (II) is shown. The value varies depending on when the ignition switch is turned to ON (II).
1. PGM-FI system check:
-1. Check for PGM-FI DTCs.
Are DTCs P0562, P065A, and/or P16BB indicated?
-YES- Go to indicated troubleshooting.
-NO- Go to step 2.
2. Parasitic draw check:
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-2. Check all the battery consumption current history with the HDS.
Are all the values of 1 hour later -29.31 mA or less?
-YES- Check the battery.
-NO- Go to step 3.
3. Problem verification:
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-2. Without keyless access system: remove the ignition key from the ignition switch.
-3. Get out of the vehicle, and close all doors and tailgate securely.
-4. Lock the doors with the keyless transmitter.
-5. Make sure the individual map lights are turned off and the security alarm system is armed.
-6. Wait 70 minutes or more.
-7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-8. Check the latest battery consumption current history with the HDS.
Is the value of 1 hour later -29.31 mA or less?
-YES- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
The possible cause that an incorrect parasitic draw value was recorded:
* When you have forgotten to turn off a switch.
* When you operated a vehicle with the ignition switch in ACCESSORY (I) for a long time.
-NO- Go to the parasitic draw check.
