Key Interlock Solenoid Test
Removal

1. Upper Column Cover
1. Carefully pry out the dashboard meter visor blind cover (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B) and the hook (C), then tuck up the dashboard meter visor blind cover.
2. Remove the upper column cover (A).
2. Lower Column Cover
1. Turn the steering wheel to the left. Remove the screw (A) securing the lower column cover (B) from the front side.
2. Turn the steering wheel to the right. Remove the screw securing the lower column cover from the front side.
3. Remove the screw (A), then remove the lower column cover (B).
Test
1. Key Interlock Solenoid - Test
1. Disconnect the connector.
2. Turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY (I).
3. Connect power to steering lock connector terminal No. 1, and ground steering lock connector terminal No. 4. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0). Disconnect power and check that the key can be turned to the LOCK (0) position and removed from the cylinder.
4. If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, the key interlock solenoid is faulty; replace the steering lock.
5. Connect the connector.
Installation

1. Lower Column Cover
1. Push in on the lower column cover just above ignition switch opening (A) to engage the column cover with the locking tab (B).
2. Install the lower column cover (A), then install the screw (B).
3. Turn the steering wheel to the left. Install the screw (A) securing the lower column cover (B) from the front side.
4. Turn the steering wheel to the right. Install the screw securing the lower column cover from the front side.
2. Upper Column Cover
1. Install the upper column cover (A).
2. Install the dashboard meter visor blind cover (A). Make sure the clips (B) and the hook (C) snap into place securely
