DTC Troubleshooting: B1028
DTC B1028 : Rear Wiper Auto Stop Switch Malfunction
NOTE: Refer to the Electrical Wiring Diagrams for the location of the under-dash fuse/relay box connectors.
1. Problem verification:
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
-3. Turn the rear window wiper switch to INT for 15 seconds or more, then turn the switch OFF.
-4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1028 indicated?
-YES- Go to step 2.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
2. Fuse check:
-1. Check the following fuse.
Is the fuse OK?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Replace the fuse. If the fuse blows again, repair the short to ground in the No. B23 (10 A) fuse circuit.
3. Open wire check (IG1 WIPER&WASHER line):
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
-2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Is there battery voltage?
-YES- The IG1 WIPER&WASHER wire is OK. Go to step 4.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
4. Shorted wire check (RR WIPER RLY CL- line):
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- Repair a short to ground in the wire.
-NO- The RR WIPER RLY CL- wire is not shorted. Go to step 5.
5. Open wire check (RR WIPER RLY CL- line):
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- The RR WIPER RLY CL- wire is OK. Go to step 6.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
6. Rear window wiper motor check:
-1. Do the rear window wiper motor test Wiper Motor Test.
Does the wiper motor run and does it pulse normally?
-YES- Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation.
-NO- Replace the rear window wiper motor Service and Repair.
