EPS DTC Troubleshooting: 81-03, 85-01

DTC 81-03 : Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction
DTC 85-01 : Problem in VSA System

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the how to troubleshoot the EPS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.






1. Problem verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

-3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then start the engine.

-4. Wait 30 seconds or more.

-5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.






Is DTC 81-03 or 85-01 indicated?
-YES- The failure is duplicated. Go to VSA system Troubleshooting Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
