DTC Troubleshooting: P0326

DTC P0326 : Knock Sensor Malfunction

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information How to Troubleshoot the Fuel And Emissions Systems.


1. Problem verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS. How to Troubleshoot the Fuel And Emissions Systems

-3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-4. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm or more without load (in P or N) for at least 5 seconds.

-5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0326 indicated?
-YES- The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the knock sensor and the PCM.

2. Knock sensor installation check:

-1. Check the knock sensor installation.

Is the knock sensor installed correctly?
-YES- Replace the knock sensor Service and Repair, then do the repair verification.
-NO- Install the knock sensor correctly Service and Repair, then do the repair verification.

Repair verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Reset the PCM with the HDS How to Troubleshoot the Fuel And Emissions Systems.

-3. Do the PCM idle learn procedure PCM Idle Learn Procedure.

-4. Test-drive under these conditions:
* Engine coolant temperature (ECT SENSOR 1) above 158 °F (70 °C)
* Transmission in D
* Engine speed at 1,500 rpm or more
* Drive 5 seconds or more





-5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0326 indicated?
-YES- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the knock sensor and the PCM, then go to step 1.
-NO- Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
