Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Audio system information does not display on the center display

Audio system information does not display on the center display

NOTE:
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Problem verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Turn on the audio unit, and check the audio information on the center display unit.

Does the audio information display properly?
-YES- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
-NO- The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

2. Fuse check:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Check the following fuse.






Is the fuse OK?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. A29 (10 A) fuse circuit.

3. Open wire check (+B BACK UP line):

-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.










Is there battery voltage?
-YES- The +B BACK UP wire is OK. Go to step 4.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the No. A29 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the center display unit.

4. Open wire check (GND line):

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.










Is there less than 0.2 V?
-YES- The GND wire is OK. Go to step 5.
-NO- Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the center display unit and body ground (G502).

5. Shorted wire check (DUET CONT line):

-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Disconnect the following connectors.






-3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.










Is there continuity?
-YES- Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the center display unit and the audio unit.
-NO- The DUET CONT wire is not shorted to ground. Go to step 6.

6. Open wire check (DUET CONT line):

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.










Is there continuity?
-YES- The DUET CONT wire is OK. Go to step 7.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the center display unit.

7. Shorted wire check (DUET RX line, DUET TX line):

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.














Is there continuity?
-YES- There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the center display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
-NO- The DUET RX and the DUET TX wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 8.

8. Shorted wire check (DUET RX line to DUET TX line):

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.










Is there continuity?
-YES- There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the center display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
-NO- The DUET RX and the DUET TX wires are not shorted. Go to step 9.

9. Shorted wire check (SH DUET line to another lines):

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.














Is there continuity?
-YES- There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the center display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
-NO- The SH DUET wire is OK. Go to step 10.

10. Open wire check (DUET RX line, DUET TX line):

-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.














Is there continuity?
-YES- The DUET RX and the DUET TX wires are OK. Go to step 11.
-NO- There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the center display unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

11. Audio unit check:

-1. Substitute a known-good center display unit, and recheck. Service and Repair

Does the symptom go away?
-YES- Replace the original center display unit.
-NO- Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal and Installation.
