Transmission Mount Removal and Installation
Removal
1. Upper Torque Rod Mounting Bolt - Loosen
1. Loosen the upper torque rod mounting bolt (A).
2. Air Cleaner Assembly
1. Disconnect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor connector (A).
2. Remove the harness clamp (B).
3. Disconnect the intake air duct (C) and the intake air pipe (D).
4. Remove the air cleaner (E).
3. Intake Air Duct
1. Remove the intake air duct.
4. Battery Terminal - Disconnection
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable (A) from the battery.
NOTE: Always disconnect the negative side first.
3. Disconnect the positive cable (B) from the battery.
5. Battery
1. Remove the battery setting plate (A) and the battery (B).
6. Battery Base Assembly
1. Remove the battery base and the harness clamps.
7. PCM Assembly
1. Remove the cover.
2. Disconnect PCM connectors A, B, and C.
NOTE: PCM connectors A, B, and C have symbols (A=(square), B=(triangle), C=(circle)) embossed on them for identification.
3. Remove the PCM (D).
8. Vehicle Lift
1. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.
9. Front Splash Shield
1. Remove the bolts (A), then remove the clips (B) that secure the front inner fender and the front splash shield (C) to the body.
2. From under the front bumper (D), remove the clips (E).
3. From under the body, remove the clips (F), then pull out the front splash shield.
10. Lower Torque Rod Mounting Bolt - Loosen
1. Loosen the lower torque rod mounting bolt (A).
11. Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Loosen
1. Loosen the front engine mount mounting bolt (A).
12. Transmission Jack Support
1. Lift and support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the transmission.
13. Transmission Mount
1. Remove the ground cable (A).
2. Remove the transmission mount bracket (B).
3. Remove the transmission mount.
Installation
1. Transmission Mount
1. Install the transmission mount.
2. Loosely install the new transmission mount bracket mounting bolt and nuts (A).
3. Tighten the new transmission mount mounting bolt (B).
4. Install the ground cable.
2. Transmission Jack Support
1. Remove the jack from under the transmission.
3. Transmission Mount - Tighten
1. Tighten the transmission mount bracket mounting bolt and nuts.
4. Lower Torque Rod Bolt - Tighten
1. Tighten the lower torque rod mounting bolt (A).
5. Upper Torque Rod - Tighten
1. Tighten the upper torque rod mounting bolt.
6. Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt - Tighten
1. Tighten the front engine mount mounting bolt.
7. Front Splash Shield
1. Install the front splash shield (A), then install the bolts (B) and the clips (C, D). Make sure the clips snap into place securely.
8. Battery Base Assembly
1. Remove the battery base and install the clamps.
9. Intake Air Duct
1. Install the intake air duct.
10. PCM Assembly
1. Install the PCM (D).
2. Connect PCM connectors A, B, and C.
NOTE: PCM connectors A, B, and C have symbols (A=(square), B=(triangle), C=(circle)) embossed on them for identification.
11. Air Cleaner Assembly
1. Install the air cleaner (A).
2. Connect the intake air pipe (B) and the intake air duct (C).
3. Install the harness clamp (D).
4. Connect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor connector (E).
12. Battery
1. Install the battery (A) and the battery setting plate (B).
NOTE: Do not deform the battery setting plate by over-tightening the nuts.
13. Battery Terminal - Reconnection
NOTE: If the battery performance is abnormal, test the battery.
1. Clean the battery terminals.
2. Connect the positive cable (A) to the battery.
NOTE: Always connect the positive side first.
3. Connect the negative cable (B) to the battery.
4. Apply multipurpose grease to the terminals to prevent corrosion.
