Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Disconnection





1. Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0).

2. Disconnect and isolate the negative cable (A) from the battery.

NOTE: Always disconnect the negative side first.

3. Disconnect the positive cable (B) from the battery.

4. Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Relay Control Module





1. Remove the cover (A).

2. Remove the relay control module (B) from the under-hood fuse/relay box.

3. Disconnect the relay control module connectors.

3. Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box Assembly





NOTE: The under-hood fuse/relay box is a part of the engine compartment wire harness, and it cannot be replaced by itself.

1. Remove the alternator and battery cable (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box (B).

2. Release the tabs (C), then detach the under-hood fuse/relay box.

3. Remove the bottom cover (D) and connector from the under-hood fuse/relay box.

4. Carefully remove the relays using a relay puller.

NOTE: Do not use pliers. Pliers will damage the relays, which could cause the engine to stall or not start or cause other functions to fail.

Installation

1. Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box Assembly





NOTE: The under-hood fuse/relay box is a part of the engine compartment wire harness, and it cannot be replaced by itself.

1. Install the relays, connector, and bottom cover (A) to the under-hood fuse/relay box (B).

2. Install the under-hood fuse/relay box.

3. Install the alternator and battery cable (C) to the under-hood fuse/relay box.

2. Relay Control Module





1. Connect the relay control module connectors.

2. Install the relay control module (A) to the under-hood fuse/relay box.

3. Install the cover (B).

3. Battery Terminal (SRS) - Reconnection





NOTE: If the battery performance is abnormal, test the battery.

1. Clean the battery terminals.

2. Connect the positive cable (A) to the battery.

NOTE: Always connect the positive side first.

3. Connect the negative cable (B) to the battery.

4. Apply multipurpose grease to the terminals to prevent corrosion.
