Rear Differential Solenoid Valve Test
Test
1. Rear Differential Solenoid Valve - Test
1. Connect the tube (A) to the rear differential solenoid valve (B).
2. Blown the air to the tube.
* If the air flows out of the port, go to step 3.
* If the air does not flow out of the port, replace the rear differential solenoid valve.
3. Connect a jumper wire from the negative battery terminal to the rear differential solenoid valve body, and connect another jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to connector terminal No. 1.
4. Blown the air to the tube.
* If the air flows out of the port, replace the rear differential solenoid valve.
* If the air does not flow out of the port, the rear differential solenoid valve is OK, and the test is complete.
Installation
1. Rear Differential Solenoid Valve
1. Apply Dual Pump Fluid II to a new O-ring (A).
2. Install the rear differential solenoid valve (B) with the O-ring, and the square washer (C).
2. Oil Pump Body Assembly
1. Apply Dual Pump Fluid II to a new O-ring (A).
2. Install the dowel pins (B) with the O-ring.
3. Install the oil pump body assembly (C).
4. Install the 32.3 mm shim (A).
5. Install the 94.6 mm shim (B).
3. Rear Differential Clutch Assembly
1. Install the differential clutch assembly (A).
2. Install the baffle cover (B).
4. Oil Pump Case
1. Remove the dirt and oil from the sealing surfaces.
2. Apply liquid gasket (P/N 08718-0004 or 08718-0009) evenly to the sealing surface.
3. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket. Make sure you seal the entire circumference of the bolt holes to prevent fluid leakage.
NOTE:
* If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
* If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply the new liquid gasket.
* Allow it to cure at least 30 minutes after assembly before filling the differential with the recommended fluid.
4. Install the dowel pins (A).
5. Install the oil pump case (B).
6. Torque the eight mounting bolts in a crisscross pattern in several steps.
5. Oil Pump Cover
1. Install the fluid strainer (A) and the dowel pins (B).
2. Install the inner rotor (C) and the outer rotor (D) with the "" marks (E) facing the oil pump case side.
3. Install the oil pump cover (F) with a new oil pump cover seal (G).
4. Torque the six mounting bolts in a crisscross pattern in several steps.
6. Rear Differential Companion Flange (Real Time AWD System)
1. Install the companion flange (A) to the shaft of the clutch guide.
2. Apply Dual Pump Fluid II to a new O-ring (B).
3. Install the O-ring, a new back-up ring (C), the spring washer (D), and a new locknut (E).
4. Install the companion flange holder (A) and holder handle (B) on the companion flange.
5. Tighten the locknut to the specified torque.
6. Stake the locknut tab (A) into the groove in the clutch guide.
7. Rear Differential Subharness
1. Install the rear differential subharness (A).
2. Connect the ground terminal (B).
8. Rear Differential Solenoid Valve Connector
1. Install the rear differential solenoid valve connector (A).
2. Connect the connector (A).
9. Rear Differential Fluid Pressure Sensor
1. Install the rear differential fluid pressure sensor (A) with a new O-ring (B).
10. Rear Differential Fluid Pressure Sensor Connector
1. Connect the connector (A).
11. Rear Differential Fluid Temperature Sensor
1. Apply Dual Pump Fluid II to a new O-ring (A).
2. Install the rear differential fluid temperature sensor (B) with the O-ring.
12. Rear Differential Fluid Temperature Sensor Connector
1. Connect the connector (A).
13. Rear Differential Sensor Cover
1. Install the rear differential sensor cover (A).
2. Connect the breather hoses (B) to the clamps (C).
14. Rear Differential Motor Assembly
1. Install the rear differential pump motor (A) with a new O-ring (B).
15. Rear Differential Motor Connector
1. Connect the connector (A).
16. Rear Differential Harness Bracket
1. Install the harness bracket (A) and the harness clip (B).
17. Rear Differential Assembly
1. Install the rear differential mount assembly A to the rear differential assembly (B) with new bolts.
18. Rear Driveshaft Inboard Side Both - Reconnection
1. Install new set ring (A) into the groove (B) of the rear driveshaft inboard joint on both side.
2. Lift the rear differential assembly (A) up into position.
3. Insert the inboard end (B) of the rear driveshafts (C) into the differential (D) until the set ring (E) locks in the groove (F).
NOTE: Insert the driveshaft horizontally to prevent damaging the oil seals (G).
19. Rear Differential Mount Bracket
1. Align the tabs (A) of the rubber mount (B) with the holes (C) of the plates (D).
2. Install the rear differential mounting bolts (E).
3. Install the left and right rear differential mount brackets B.
4. Tighten new differential mount brackets B mounting bolts (A) to the specified torque.
5. Loosely install new differential mount brackets B mounting bolt (C).
20. Rear Differential Mount Bolt - Tighten
1. Lower the transmission jack.
2. Tighten differential mount brackets B mounting bolt to the specified torque.
21. Rear Differential Breather Hoses
Differential upper side
Pump motor side
1. Connect the breather hoses (A) to the breather pipes (B) and clamps (C).
2. Connect the breather hose (A) to the clamp (B).
22. Rear Differential Connector
1. Install the harness clips (A).
2. Connect the connectors (A).
3. Install the connector cover (B).
23. Propeller Shaft Rear Differential Side - Disconnection (With Nylon Strap)
1. Attach the No. 2 propeller shaft (A) to the rear differential companion flange (B) by aligning the reference mark (C) you made during the removal procedure.
2. Install new flange bolts (D) to the specified torque.
24. Rear Differential Fluid - Replacement (Real Time AWD System)
1. Clean the drain plug (A), then install it with a new sealing washer (B).
2. Refill the differential with rear differential fluid to the proper level.
NOTE: If you disassemble the differential, check the rear differential fluid level again after the 4WD system check is finished. Add fluid if necessary.
Recommended fluid: Honda Dual Pump Fluid II
3. Install the oil filler plug (A) with a new sealing washer (B).
25. Real Time AWD System Bleeding
1. Select the ADJUSTMENT in the REAL TIME AWD SYSTEM with the HDS.
2. Select the AIR BLEEDING in the ADJUSTMENT with the HDS.
NOTE: See the HDS Help menu for specific instructions.
26. Test Drive
1. Test-drive the vehicle.
