Rear Differential Mount Removal and Installation
Removal
1. Vehicle Lift
1. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported.
2. Propeller Shaft Rear Differential Side - Disconnection (With Nylon Strap)
1. Make a reference mark (A) across the No. 2 propeller shaft (B) and the rear differential companion flange (C).
2. Remove the No. 2 propeller shaft flange bolts (D).
3. Separate the No. 2 propeller shaft from the rear differential.
NOTE: Suspend the propeller shaft with an appropriate size nylon strap.
3. Rear Differential Jack Support
1. Place a transmission jack under the rear differential assembly.
4. Rear Differential Mount Bracket
1. Remove the left and right rear differential mount brackets B.
2. Remove the mounting bolts (A) and the plates (B).
5. Rear Differential Mount Rubber
1. Remove the rear differential mount rubber (A).
6. Rear Differential Mount Assembly A
1. Slightly lower the rear differential on the transmission jack.
NOTE: Make sure you do not over extend the wire harness and the breather hose.
2. Remove the rear differential mount assembly A stopper (B).
3. Remove the rear differential mount assembly A.
Installation
1. Rear Differential Mount Assembly A
1. Install the differential mount assembly A stopper (B).
2. Install the rear differential mount assembly A.
3. Raise the rear differential to the mounting level.
2. Rear Differential Mount Rubber
1. Install the rear differential mount rubber (A).
3. Rear Differential Mount Bracket
1. Align the tabs (A) of the rubber mount (B) with the holes (C) of the plates (D).
2. Install the rear differential mounting bolts (E).
3. Install the left and right rear differential mount brackets B.
4. Tighten new differential mount brackets B mounting bolts (A) to the specified torque.
5. Loosely install new differential mount brackets B mounting bolt (C).
4. Rear Differential Mount Bolt - Tighten
1. Lower the transmission jack.
2. Tighten differential mount brackets B mounting bolt to the specified torque.
5. Propeller Shaft Rear Differential Side - Disconnection (With Nylon Strap)
1. Attach the No. 2 propeller shaft (A) to the rear differential companion flange (B) by aligning the reference mark (C) you made during the removal procedure.
2. Install new flange bolts (D) to the specified torque.
