DTC 71-02 : Motor Angle Sensor (Neutral Position Learning of SIN/COS)
DTC 71-03 : Motor Angle Sensor (SIN/COS Signals)
DTC 71-07 : Motor Angle Sensor (SIN/COS Signals)
1. Problem verification:
Problem verification
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-4. Start the engine.
-5. Turn the steering wheel to the right or left, and wait 10 seconds or more.
-6. Check for DTCs with the HDS
Is DTC 71-01, 71-02, 71-03, or 71-07 indicated?
-YES- The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
-NO- Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If another DTC is indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
2. EPS motor angle sensor internal resistance check (RESOLVER lines) 1:
EPS motor angle sensor internal resistance check (RESOLVER lines) 1
-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
-3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Is the resistance between RESOLVER_R1-RESOLVER_R2 13-25 Ohms, RESOLVER_S1-RESOLVER_S3 26-49 Ohms, and RESOLVER_S2-RESOLVER_S4 26-49 Ohms?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Go to step 5.
3. Shorted wire check (RESOLVER lines) 1:
Shorted wire check (RESOLVER lines) 1
-1. Check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.
Is there continuity?
-YES- Go to step 4.
-NO- The RESOLVER wires are OK. Go to step 6.
4. Shorted wire check (RESOLVER lines) 2:
Shorted wire check (RESOLVER lines) 2
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
-2. On the sensor side, check for continuity between these test points and body ground individually.
Is there continuity?
-YES- The RESOLVER wires are OK. Replace the EPS motor Service and Repair.
-NO- Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the EPS motor angle sensor 6P connector and the EPS control unit.
5. EPS motor angle sensor internal resistance check (RESOLVER lines) 2:
EPS motor angle sensor internal resistance check (RESOLVER lines) 2
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
-2. On the sensor side, measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Is the resistance between RESOLVER_R1-RESOLVER_R2 13-25 Ohms, RESOLVER_S1-RESOLVER_S3 26-49 Ohms, and RESOLVER_S2-RESOLVER_S4 26-49 Ohms?
-YES-
* Repair an open in the wire between the EPS motor angle sensor 6P connector and the EPS control unit.
* Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the EPS motor angle sensor 6P connector and the EPS control unit.
-NO- Replace the EPS motor (motor angle sensor) Service and Repair.
6. EPS control unit check (update):
EPS control unit check (update)
-1. Reconnect the following connector.
-2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-3. Update the EPS control unit Programming and Relearning if it does not have the latest software.
-4. Start the engine.
-5. Turn the steering wheel to the right or left, and wait 10 seconds or more.
-6. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 71-01, 71-02, 71-03, or 71-07 indicated?
-YES- Replace the EPS control unit Service and Repair.
-NO- Troubleshooting is complete.
